Our team recently partnered with SPUD Edmonton on a juicer review and here are my thoughts:
Fresh Juice is Delicious
I must say you really can taste (and see) the difference between fresh; slow pressed juice and the regular ol’ stuff you buy at the grocery store. Not to mention that you know exactly what is in your cup aka all the good stuff and no hard to pronounce “preservatives”.
Super Simple to Use
I will admit that I originally thought juicing would be a complicated process that would show little reward for all of my effort but after using the Hurom Slow Juicer everyday (sometimes twice a day) for a week my opinion has changed! It was super easy to make different types of juice and my two & three year old loved helping out with the process too.
**Pro-tip: Cut your fruit and/or vegetables into small pieces (1-2 inches) to get the most out of each piece**
Kids love it!
Not only did my kids love that we made our own juice but they (mostly) loved the final product too! Honestly though I set my expectations low and was pleasantly surprised by their reaction. All three of my children were happy to taste the different juices that I/we created and my two year old drank a full [small] glass almost every time. One day I made a veggie juice with red pepper; celery; parsley; kale & ginger and I loved it but thought there was no way my kids would touch it; the two year old surprised me again with polishing off a small glass full.
**Pro-tip: Adding greens, such as kale to your juice will change the colour to a brown shade and if your child asks if you have chocolate and if they can have some resist the urge to lie to them about said drink containing chocolate but do encourage them to taste it. **
What is SPUD?
SPUD is Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery; basically fresh organic produce delivered right to your door! All you have to do is create a free SPUD account; select which organic produce and groceries you want and pick a date for them to be delivered at your door! My kids loved having a box of produce delivered to our door and could hardly wait to get to juicing.

The lovely folks at SPUD have made juicing that much easier by offering a variety of organic juicing boxes for you to choose from. All of the boxes include fresh, organic produce that is delivered to your door with recipes to help you maximize the contents! You can view all of the organic juicing box options here.
In addition to receiving juice recipes with your juicing box you can find a large selections of recipes on the SPUD website! That is where I found this tasty recipe:
