Family Day Weekend
Are you looking forward to some quality time with your family this holiday weekend? Awesome! Because there is lots going on to tell you about!
The Sochi Olympics
The Sochi Olympics start this Friday, February 7th. Can you believe it’s already here? And because it coincides with Family Day Weekend in BC, I thought I would include some local Olympic fun in this latest edition of Around Vancouver Town.
What you need to know about watching the games.
Sochi, Russia is 12 hours ahead of us here in Vancouver. So if its 12 Noon here it’s 12am the next day in Sochi. What does this mean for viewing the events? Well hopefully you’re getting the sleep you need and won’t be up to watch it live. Best to check the schedule and PVR it so you won’t miss a thing.
If you want to watch the opening ceremony it starts at 8am PST on Friday February 7th.
The Olympics on CBC
CBC, Ron MacLean and Peter Mansbridge will co-host coverage of the event, starting with a pre-show at 7am PST. You can also watch it simultaneously on TSN2, Sportsnet and Sportsnet ONE.
If you miss anything CBC will show the event again at 11am PST and run “enhanced” coverage during that day’s Olympic Primetime, featuring highlights and athlete interviews.
If participation is more your family’s cup of Russian tea, then check out these fabulous events Around Vancouver Town, one of which includes a viewing party of sorts in the Olympic Village.
Celebrate the Legacy of the Olympics at Creekside Community Centre
Celebrate and commemorate the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games at Creekside Centre in the former Olympic and Paralympic Athletes Village.
This is an all ages event that will feature big screen play back of Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Events, games and craft stations for children and much more.
This event is FREE and all ages are welcome, pre-registration is not required.
