Diwali Celebrations in the Fraser Valley

Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. Diwali symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.” This year Diwali is on November 7th, 2018. To find out more information about Diwali events please click here.

Mission

When: October 24th, 5pm to 9pm

Where: 33700 Prentis Ave., Clarke Theatre

Info: Delicious food, entertainment and a multi-cultural community marketplace. Admission is free but non-perishable food donations would be appreciated.

Maple Ridge

When: November 10th, 8pm to 11pm

Where: 11944 Haney Place, ACT Theatre

To purchase click  here.This South Asian evening, hosted by Diwali in BC’s Jessie Award winning Rohit Chokhani, will feature classical as well as contemporary dance and live music performances. This amazing showcase will be headlined by Shiamak Vancouver, a local company created by the Bollywood star choreographer Shiamak Davar.

Surrey

When: October 21st, 2pm to 5pm

Where: 13450 104 Ave, Surrey City Hall

Info: Diwali Downtown brings together the best of contemporary and classical Indian culture for the entire family. This year’s event will include over fifteen unique music and dance performances, an Indian style marketplace featuring South Asian crafts and food. Admission is free or by donation.

Vancouver

When: October 17th, 12pm to 1pm

Where: 350 W. Georgia St.

Info: Admission is free. Celebrate the sights and sounds of Diwali with an exciting music and dance performance. This event will feature colourful, fast-paced Indian dance performances to celebrate the 15th Annual Diwali Fest

 

When: October 24th, 6pm to 7pm

Where: 1950 Argyle Drive, Fraserview Library

Info: Free Admission. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Diwali at an exciting music and dance performance. This event will feature a colourful, fast-paced Bollywood and Indian classical fusion dance performance by Aashritha Royyuru and Niki Patel.

 

When: October 27th, 3pm to 7pm

Where: 181 Roundhouse Mews, Roundhouse Community Centre

Info: Diwali Fest returns for it’s 15th Annual Celebration of the Festival of Lights at Diwali Downtown Vancouver. This multicultural event features music and dance performances by local artists. The beloved Rangoli room will be back again – join us to create a room sized mosaic artwork! Attendance is free.
