What is the Urban Mommy Expo?
The 2nd Annual Urban Mommy Expo is an exciting show in Edmonton’s “youngest neighbourhoods.” It features more than 60 vendors showcasing the latest finds for moms, including baby and parenting related items, fashion and home products, and specialized services moms and dads are always on the look out for! Most of the vendors at the Expo were founded in Edmonton, many from the west end!
This event was designed with the family in mind! Throughout the expo guests are invited to participate in the “Kids Zone” which includes two bouncy castles, Disney Princesses, balloon animals, face painting and sparkle tattoos.
When is the Urban Mommy Expo?
Urban Mommy Expo is on October 27, 2012 – Saturday 10am to 4pm at in the hall at WECA in West Edmonton (6315 – 199 Street NW, Edmonton – Just off the Henday). Admission is $2 (12 and under free) and a portion of the proceeds and all raffle sales will go towards the construction of a playground at Sister Annata Brockman School and Bessie Nichols School in the Glastonbury/Hamptons neighborhoods. The organizers will also be accepting donations for Basically Babies.
Who are we?
Why a tradeshow in Edmonton’s West End? Allison explains; “We are three mompreneurs (Nicola Doherty, Trisha Hillaby & Allison Anderson) who met at a small tradeshow on the northside, and discovered we lived within blocks of each other. We quickly realized that there were no events, large or small, in our neighbourhood that spotlighted local businesses. We thought it would be a great idea to showcase these local artisans, home based businesses and “brick and mortar” companies, by bringing them together in the west end. With that said, it’s not just a west end show. It is a shopping experience with a community feel, but a city wide reach.”
