Visit one the city’s fabulous indoor playgrounds, of course. Here are some suggestions to make everyone happy, no matter the weather.

Vancouver Indoor Playgrounds

Kerrisdale Play Palace

For instance, the Kerrisdale Play Palace features giant bouncy castles, obstacle courses, ride-on toys and a whole lot more. It’s open from April 10 to September 2, 2015. Other facilities are typically open from April or May to August, but hours vary, so check before you go!

For something a little different, check out 6Pack Indoor Beach under the Knight Street Bridge just inside Richmond. Their Kidz Beach for Lil’ Diggers runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, for kids age 10 and under. Think of it as the city’s biggest sandbox, but this one never gets rained out.

The Adventure Zone

Located inside the Kids Market on Granville Island, the Adventure Zone was rated as one of the top 10 places for families with children to visit in Vancouver by the Tourism Board of Vancouver. There are no age restrictions and toddlers can be accompanied by an adult, but this is one of those busy Vancouver indoor playgrounds that work best for preschoolers on up.

While the hours are shorter, many Vancouver community centres offer affordable, fun, drop-in play time for kids up to five years old. For example at the time of writing Creekside offers Family Play Gym every day except Saturday for just $1.50, Coal Harbour offers Jellyfish Playtime every day and Baby Jellyfish Playtime Mondays through Thursdays for $2.25, and Roundhouse offers Parent & Tot Gym Time every day except Sunday for $2.75.
