While summer can be full of exciting activities sometimes with lots of downtime you find your kids pulled towards those screens. We all know getting your body moving is incredibly important but, so is getting those creative juices flowing. You can do that at home through hands-on activities, imaginative projects, or by attending The Makery Summer Camps! They have an extensive amount of activities that capture their curiosity and ignite their imaginations.
About The Makery

The Makery is a unique S.T.E.A.M.-inspired exploration centre designed to spark creativity, curiosity, and imaginative play in children and their families. Through hands-on activities, camps, classes, workshops, and open play experiences, kids are encouraged to learn through exploration in a fun and engaging environment. The space features a variety of interactive areas, including STEM, movement, sensory, and light-based play experiences that inspire creativity and discovery.
Led by experienced early childhood educators, The Makery focuses on fostering confidence, problem-solving skills, and a love of learning while providing a welcoming space where children can create, connect, and explore. Whether attending a camp, celebrating a birthday, or dropping in for playtime, families will find endless opportunities for fun and learning.
Benefits of Creative Play

In a world where screens are constantly vying for children’s attention, creative experiences provide them an opportunity to slow down and do something real. Hands-on activities inspire children to think creatively, solve problems and take pride in bringing their ideas to life, whether it’s painting, crafting, designing or building. Summer is a great time to explore those interests and to discover how rewarding it can be to make something from scratch.
The Makery Summer Camps

The Makery is such an incredibly unique space with four special rooms all with a diverse range of engaging activities for children. They are the STEM Lab, Move Lab, Glow Lab, and Mess Lab! The Makery offers summer programming that is the perfect balance of structure and flexibility ensuring that your child has a fulfilling experience. Children will explore each room participating in any activity that sparks excitement or curiosity. Not all activities will be within those four rooms as they move outdoors to investigate the world around them. You can be rest assured that your kiddo will not be using the word ” boring” when they tell you how their day was!
All classes are a mix of ages and not separated. I absolutely love this as you never really know who your child will connect with. Many times my oldest will take a little one under her wing or my youngest will find himself finding a similar interest with an older child. You can expect a maximum of 35 kids in each camp with 2-3 educators running activities.

Here are some of the activities in their camp schedule:
- Science experiments
- Sensory play (slime, playdough, water, themed sensory setups, etc)
- Robotics (operating tablet and remote controllable robots)
- Engineering (building with a huge variety of materials such as LEGO, magnet tiles, plus plus blocks, huge foam blocks, and many more)
- Light/glow activities
- Stop motion animation projects (for the older kiddos)
- Gym activities
- Outdoor activities and park trips
- Maker projects (using recycled materials)
- Process based art (new projects daily)
- OSMO games (coding, pizza shop, tanagram, etc)
- Karaoke
- And many others
