Did you know that there are over 60 playgrounds in Spruce Grove and Stony Plain? That is a lot of choices on where to take your kids on a nice, sunny day! This year, I plan on having my kids “test drive” local playgrounds and give you our thoughts. This week’s local playground review: Parkland Village.
Parkland Village (PLV) is located North of Highway 16 on Century Road. To find the playground, take the second entrance to PLV and it is on your right at the t-intersection.
Pros
The playground has a wonderful view of the man-made lake and walking trail, benches, a covered picnic table, and quite a bit of fun things for the kids to play on. In 2014, they even added more equipment for kids to play with. My older kids loved climbing, sliding, and jumping all over the equipment. There was also no shortage of sand to build sand castles and get their hands dirty with. After we were done playing, we even went for a walk around the lake and see the geese building their nests.
Cons
Other than sitting on the large, flat swings or taking Miss H down the slide with me, there was nothing for babies or toddlers to do. Luckily she was asleep and could care less about playing but it would be fantastic to at least have swings that accommodate the little ones.
Final Review
Parkland Village playground is a cute, little playground that would be great to have a picnic at and enjoy more than just a playground. However, this playground is suited more to preschoolers and older.
