*** This BEAT THE WINTER BLUES post has been sponsored. ***
It’s February. Thank goodness January is over, am I right?!
It’s that time of year where most of us fight the blues if even just a little bit. Failed New Year’s Resolutions, year-end, and Holiday bills piled high, gloomy Winter weather, it can all contribute to a hopelessly dreary mood.
What do you do to get out of a Winter funk at this time of year?
I do a variety of things to try to perk up, including exercise, reading, journaling, even watching some online self-help videos and seminars (I love Gabrielle Bernstein).
I have partnered with Indigo to share a few wellness must-haves with you to beat the winter blues! I also have a GIVEAWAY for you from Indigo, read on to learn more and enter to win!
The definition of mindfulness: “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.”
Being mindful can help reduce stress and anxiety. But, how do we practice this? Through reading, journaling, meditating, yoga, and here are some great tools to help you get started.
It’s a well-known fact that physical activity will help you feel better mentally. Get started slow with walks, do a yoga class online in your own home, or join a gym, whatever works for you. I have a gym in my complex, so I try to get to the elliptical 4 days a week, even though I’m not a huge fan of exercise. I do it for my health, and my mental health.
Sleep has a myriad of benefits, just check out this post on Health.com for “11 Surprising Benefits” but the basic message is that getting enough sleep is the basic starting point to feeling better.
I hope that you are taking care of yourself through these colder months and that these items and practices may bring you joy!
