A Day with the Farms #FamilyFirst

This post is part of the YummyMummyClub.ca and Maple Lodge Farms #FamilyFirst sponsored program. I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. This post reflects my personal opinion about the information provided by the sponsors.

My youngest two girls and I had the pleasure of meeting and spending the day with a team from Maple Lodge Farms recently.

I love aligning with brands that place a huge value on family. The theme of this event was “Family First” and Maple Lodge Farms is definitely a family focused company. They have been a family owned company for four generations and their vision is simply ‘family first’.

Isn’t that what all of us mamas do? We put our family first. First before work, before friends, before money, our families always come first.  Sometimes, even before ourselves, but that’s a whole other topic. I believe you need to make time for yourself as doing so will make you a better mother.

Every day we prepare three meals a day for our brood. Sandwiches seem to be associated with lunchtime. Whether your kids are at home, in daycare, or preschool, we tend to think of lunchtime as time for a sandwich. So, at the Maple Lodge Farms event, we were competing in a contest against other bloggers, to create a sandwich to conquer all sandwiches!

We scoped out the available ingredients (everything from candy to artisan breads and Nutella!) and positioned ourselves at the “Peters’” station.

We decided to create the ‘Tower of Hearts’ with a tall and tasty heart-shaped creation.

You’ll need:

  • Heart shaped food cutter (one large and one small)
  • Whole Wheat bread (4 slices)
  • Maple Lodge Farms Oven Roasted Chicken Breast
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Purple Onion
  • Marble Cheese slices (3)
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard

Maple Lodge also has a Jalapeño flavoured cooked chicken if you like a little kick!

Next, cut all ingredients out in the same size heart shaped cookie cutter.

Assemble by layering Bread, chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, bread, and repeat until you have a “Tower of Hearts!”

To embellish, we added small heart-shaped cheese to accompany our sandwich. (we love cheese!)

During our preparation (let’s face it, Berlin did all the work) Ivy ate all the candy in sight and I snacked on Maple Lodge Farms Chicken Bacon and cheese!

We won for ‘Prettiest Sandwich’ and my girls could not have been more pleased!

Thank you for a great day, Maple Lodge Farms!
