Recently my family and I hit the road down to Calgary for a short holiday. And a trip to Calgary isn’t complete without heading over to the Calgary Zoo. I am always so amazed at all the incredible animals they have and I am here to share what you NEED to see while you’re there!
Grazers Restaurant
Wanting to experience everything new and exciting at the zoo, It was highly recommended that I check out Grazers restaurant. They feature locally sourced ingredients, some of which are even grown right there at the zoo! They have a fabulous selection of a la cart and buffet menu options for adults and children and are fully licensed ( hello, mojito!). One of the best things about Grazers was how quiet it was, especially after fighting the crowds in 33-degree heat. So if you are looking for a dining experience unlike you have ever seen at a zoo, then you need to check them out!
The Penguin Plunge
Even though the penguins at the Calgary Zoo have been around for quite a while they are still my favorite! This is a great exhibit for everyone, especially your kiddos! I love that even if you aren’t very tall you can still catch a glimpse of the penguins zipping around underwater. If you can, try and swing by near the end of the day for dinner time!
The Land Of Lemurs
This was the exhibit that I couldn’t wait to see! The Land Of Lemurs is Canada’s first walk through lemur exhibit and it was truly something to see! The 1.3-acre feature allows visitors to enter into the lemur’s world in a barrier free setting. The land of lemurs is home to three different species: black and white ruffled, ring tailed and red fronted. I was incredibly impressed at how they had the exhibit set up to try and mimic the lemur’s natural habitat. They go so far as to hide the lemur’s food, so that they may hunt and forage for it. Unfortunately, the day we attended it was 33-degrees and the lemurs spent most of their day hiding in the shade. I would HIGHLY recommend checking it out!
