I recently had the opportunity to drive a 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat with EcoBoost for one week!
The Ford F-150 that I drove comes equipped with a 3.5 liter EcoBoost Engine and automatic 4 wheel drive.
I don’t know much about engines but I did enjoy the drive and I think trucks with 4WD are fabulous for driving in the snow! I personally prefer switching the 2WD to 4WD myself and turned off the automatic option; I also found this to give a better fuel economy. I was able to determine this because the display screen shows you your average fuel economy as you are driving.
The Lariat is a beautiful truck inside and out, with all leather interior and high end finishes.
I really enjoyed the heated seats (also a cooling feature for the summer months), independent climate control and that the heat is displayed as a number. My husband and I are often different temperatures in the vehicle and it was really nice to set my temp a little higher than his and not have him cranking it down!
Another fun feature of this F-150 was the back-up camera!
If you aren’t familiar with driving a truck it can be quite challenging at first; especially when reversing. The back-up camera made it easy to see what was behind you and the angle the truck would follow when reversing. Of course the back-up camera is not 100% guaranteed and you should check behind you before you start reversing. Another cool feature was the back-up alarm: when you get too close to an object the truck will beep to let you know and the closer you get the louder the beeping becomes.
I really enjoyed driving the Ford F-150 with EcoBoost for one week and my little ones loved it too!
My two year old has been asking to go in “Mommy’s Blue Truck” since we returned it. In my opinion trucks are fabulous for getting around Alberta, especially in the winter time!
