Just an hour and a half drive East of Vancouver is all you need to feel transported to a place of tranquility far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nestled into the surrounding mountains and on the edge of Harrison Lake lies Harrison Hot Springs Resort.

The views from the East Tower are stunning, overlooking the lake and surrounding forests, where Sasquatch (also known as Big Foot) is said to live.

The four pools at Harrison are kept at perfectly warm temperatures thanks to the natural mountain spring water. With varying temperatures ranging from 28C/83F to 40C/104F you and your family are sure to find the perfect pool to play or relax in. My favourite was the circular hot pool, of course, as it is the most relaxing. But my girls adored splashing outside while it was a brisk 0C degrees or jumping into the deeper indoor pool.

Every afternoon at 4pm complimentary tea service is prepared in the large welcoming lobby and lounge area.

The Healing Springs Spa (which I tried last Summer during our visit for a blissful massage) is a full-service spa as well as hair salon.

One of my favourite memories of traveling as a young girl with my parents is jumping on hotel beds, so I always let my girls jump on the beds. This one (my middle daughter, Berlin) loves her gymnastics. Two queen beds are in the standard room in the East Tower at Harrison Hot Springs Resort.

Our day of swimming led to an evening of fine dining and dancing with live jazz band at The Copper Room! The girls adored dressing up and heading down for a ‘fancy’ dinner. I enjoyed a Chef’s Menu of a delicious root vegetable soup, locally farmed trout followed by a mouse cake.

What impressed me most, however, was the kids meals. The kids menu choices were healthy and smaller portions of adult food – including spaghetti, fish, chicken and steak. Berlin’s steak and entire meal was amazing and spaghetti is Ivy’s favourite food of all time, so it was a perfect dinner for us. Live music and dancing was a huge perk, they even have a kids’ only dance floor and my girls thoroughly partook. It was really a great night for the three of us.

The morning buffet includes an egg and omelette station and Berlin enjoyed her high-flip cheese omelette very much!

You can purchase room packages that include dinner and breakfast on their website! I would recommend Harrison Hot Springs Resort as an easy family getaway from the city for a few days of fun and relaxation.
