JOIN US AT THE CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL FROM JUNE 1 – 4, 2023!
As a Festival, we are proud to provide a valuable opportunity for families to spend quality time together and create memories to last a lifetime.
For over four decades, through world-class programming in music, dance and theatre, as well as literary, visual and circus arts, the International Children’s Festival of the Arts awakens a child’s innate sense of wonder and excitement, and encourages them to explore what’s possible.
You are needed. You will be safe. Brave Space starts as a puddle of fabric on the floor and grows to encompass a world of wonders that includes juggling, cyr wheel, duo trapeze, a rope act like no other and awe-inspiring feats of balance and strength. This work of contemporary circus invites the audience to sit nose-to-nose with bold aerialists and acrobats to build the world we want to live in, even for only a few shared moments. An antidote to the daily news cycle, this hypermobile show can pop up wherever people need beauty, hope and comfort.
A mischievous duo, Woogie & Boogie, start to doodle and end up creating a whole imaginative world. They invite us along on their sea adventure with a tiny little turtle. Will they return the turtle to the sea safely?
A touching and playful non-verbal show using live musicians who perform the score and the sound effects, along with stunning interactive screen projections, live whiteboard drawings and an abundance of theatrical imagination.
With a motto of “No Excuses, No Limits”, ILL-ABILITIES is an international breakdance crew comprised of some of the world’s best differentlyabled dancers. In hip-hop culture, using a negative term to refer to something positive is a standard, and this is where the crew gets its name. The ‘ill’ in ILL-ABILITIES does not refer to “sick” or “unwell”; rather to incredible, amazing, intricate or talented.
By viewing their “disabilities” as “ill-abilities”, they’ve each accomplished physical feats that most able-bodies dancers have never thought possible!
Based on the best-selling books by Mo Willems, Leonardo is a terrible monster.
He tries so hard to be scary, but he just… isn’t. Then Leonardo finds Sam, the most scaredy-cat kid in the world. Will Leonardo finally get to scare the tuna salad out of someone? Or will it be the start of an unlikely friendship? Using hundreds of illustrated paper puppets, book pages, two dimensional props, furry monster puppets and songs, Manual Cinema brings Mo Willems’ big, bold, colourful book to playful and imaginative life.
Don’t miss this monumental, immersive and inflatable 11,000 square foot walk-in structure that provides a spectacular sanctuary of light, colour and sound for all ages. New this year, Daedalum Luminarium will be open late until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday! Book your experience directly from the website before shows and activities sell out!
