New Year’s Eve + Netflix = Perfect Match for Parents Everywhere

Whether you go out and celebrate New Years Eve with the family or stay in and celebrate at home, Netflix has you covered with an early countdown that you can show the little ones before sending them off to bed.

This year’s countdowns are based on some of kids’ favorite shows: Word Party, Puffin Rock, Luna Petunia, Beat Bugs, All Hail King Julien, Skylanders Academy, Trollhunters, Project Mc2, Fuller House and Chasing Cameron.

Just because the kids went to bed early doesn’t mean you have to, and in most cases it means the opposite. Maybe it’s just me but when I stay up past midnight I remind myself “you’re going to be tired in the morning” and “you used to stay up late before you had kids, you can’t do that anymore – it doesn’t go well”, and my inner Lindsay is not nice about that at all. But thanks to Netflix and our tablets we can buy ourselves a little extra sleep in the morning — good thing my kids know how to navigate them!

When the kids wake up in the morning they will see this sign hanging on our door (find the Netflix NYE Door Hanger printable here) and a basket with the tablets, a granola bar, orange and water bottle for each of them. They will know that this means leave Mom and Dad to rest for another hour and enjoy a snack and show (or two).

Some of their favorite shows on Netflix right now are:

  • Ask the StoryBots
  • Care Bears & Cousins
  • Dragons: Race to the Edge
  • LEGO Bionicle: The Journey to One
  • Luna Petunia
  • Paw Patrol
  • Skylanders Academy
  • Volron: Legendary Defender

Good luck sleeping in and Happy New Year!!
