I have a confession.
I’m tired. All. The. Time.
I know I know, this is not news to new moms like you.
My son is nearly four years old and I’m still feeling the pain of sleep deprivation. Being an older mom is part of the problem for sure but the other is that I really need ‘me time’. And so I take it after he’s in bed which sometimes isn’t until 9pm. (We’re working on this)
And then I stay up way too late. (if you can consider 11-11.30pm way too late)
So in order to get a handle on this and shed this ‘I’m so tired’ ‘badge of honour’ I’ve been wearing so long I’m getting down to business and doing something about it.
I’m going to bed early and trying to exercise more but I’m still tired when I wake up. It might have something to do with the thousands of hours I’ve lost in the past four years and beyond really. But that’s another story. Anyway…
Because I’m often so tired in the morning when I wake up one of the first things I think about it having a nice hot cup of coffee.
It helps ease the pain. And just like precious ‘me-time’ is something I crave so is having a GREAT tasting cup of coffee.
On a Quest for Great Tasting Coffee
Needless to say, we’ve been on a quest to find the best way to brew our own coffee at home for a few years now. If you were to look in our kitchen, you’d see a French Press and two coffee machines taking up valuable counter space. Our kitchen is tiny. Enough said.
All because my partner and I have very different ideas about what it takes to brew the perfect cup.
We purchased a Keurig® machine a couple of years ago hoping that we’d be able to cut down on our coffee consumption outside the home as it can get so expensive.
The trouble was that we both prefer a really strong brew and we’ve been mostly disappointed with the result. We would find ourselves switching back and forth between the Keurig and the French Press or just giving up all together and going out to visit our favourite coffee shops in the neighbourhood.
Our coffee habit was proving to be an expensive one.
So when I was asked to give the new Keurig® Rivo a go, I was excited to try it as it promised to be the answer to my dream of having barista-quality lattes or other espresso drinks in the comfort of my home. It is one of the machines sitting on our counter if you haven’t guess already.
I have to say, I love this machine! It takes some time to get used to as it can be a bit finicky getting the frother in the right spot but man, look at that froth!
It is creamy and lovely. This machine is easy to use although it can be a bit tricky to get the frother in the right spot. But, if you prefer espresso to boring old drip coffee the result is a smooth bold brew that your Italian grandma would be proud of. Now I just need to convince my partner to give away the old machine so that we can keep this baby.
Here are a few details you’ll want to know about. Why?
Because we are giving one of these fantastic machines away!
