I made these super cute snow globes to add a little something to our decor that would last through the winter season. Turns out my kids love to play with them too! These DIY snow globes are super easy to make and could be designed to your preference.
You will need:
~ Mason Jar with lid (wide mouth)
~ Mineral Oil
~ Hot Glue Gun
~ Small figurines/trees (I found these ones in the Christmas section at my local dollar store)
~ Hard Styrafoam
~ Glitter
What to do:
Step 1: Trace your jar (upside down) on your Styrofoam so you know how large to make your “platform” & cut out using a serrated knife.
Step 2: Fire up the glue gun and glue your Styrofoam base to the mason jar snap lid; ensuring that you do not cover the rubber seal with Styrofoam.
Step 3: Glue your figurines to the Styrofoam base
Step 4: Fill your jar with Mineral Oil, leaving 1 inch space at the top.
Step 5: Add glitter! Pro tip: less is more!
Step 6: Slowly put the figurines into the oil and seal the jar
Step 7: If you are happy with the amount of oil and glitter in your snow globe; remove the ring from the lid and run a line of hot glue around it and place it back on your jar. Sealing to prevent leaks.
