Family Splash Day is Sunday, September 23rd! Come on out for FREE swimming at all North Van Rec pools. Enjoy inflatable toys, fun games, arts and crafts, face painting, and popcorn, and enter to win free swimming lessons for the whole family! The Lower Lonsdale Business Association’s 8th Annual Fall Festival is on the Waterfront Plaza at Lonsdale Quay on Sunday, September 23rd from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Bobs and Lolo will start off the event, followed by Matt the Juggler who will perform his juggling and comedic skills. The North Vancouver local band Steel Toe Boots will also take the stage with a live performance featuring favourites the whole family is sure to enjoy. Free teleseminar from the Green Families Guru on Tuesday, September 25th (Noon – 1:00 pm PST) and Thursday September 27th (7:30 – 9:00 pm PST): “3 Massive Common Household Mistakes Moms (and Dads) Make that Put Their Kids At Risk for Allergies, ADHD and Asthma”. Tracy is giving a free telephone seminar on this topic to help educate parents about things in our house that can put us at risk! The key points Tracy will deliver are: the 3 main chemicals to remove from your home immediately, one kind of chemical that is actually okay to eat (and if you don’t you might get malnutrition!), and how the average woman (and many men) head out the door having soaked herself in 126 different chemicals. World Breastfeeding Week 2012 is from September 29th – October 6th. To participate in the Quintessence Foundation’s Global Breastfeeding Challenge on the North Shore, come on out to the Chris Lucas Room at the Royal Canadian Legion #118 (123 West 15th Street, North Vancouver) on Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 – Noon (sign in at 10:00). The Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train starts Friday, October 5th! “Beware of rampaging trolls, a fire-breathing dragon, and a dismembered Rumplestiltskin! The Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train will send you back in time to classic fairy tale adventures.” Train runs nightly from October 5th – 31st. Sunday to Thursday 6PM to 10PM, Fridays & Saturdays 6PM to 11PM, and matinees every Wednesday 11AM to 3PM. Live music Fridays & Saturdays too!
