This Full-Size SUV Can Seat 7 In Style and Acts like a Truck
I took the Nissan Armada Platinum to Portland, Oregon in February. I was working the Portland Auto Show and my husband and I were lucky enough to get to go without our kids for a fun little getaway before all this COVID-19 craziness began. At the time I don’t think anyone knew what was coming only a few short weeks later. Here we are, unable to go road-tripping for the moment, and that makes me sad. However, when we can again – the Armada makes for a great road trip adventure vehicle!
Do you need towing capacity, high profile, durability and seating for up to 8? The 2020 Nissan Armada Platinum does all of the above, and it looks FINE doing it too.
The Armada Platinum comes fully equipped with family must-haves like towing capacity up to 8500 lbs, leather seating (think easy clean up of spills and crumbs!), second-row heated captains chairs, a powerful V8 engine, AND plenty of cup holders and USB ports.
What We Loved
The Armada Platinum is very comfortable for both adults and rear passengers, there is plenty of room for car seats, a stroller and groceries for daily outings. Of course, this also means there is room for weekend getaways or road trips too. With its high towing capacity, take the camper or boat along to the lake for an adventure when we can finally travel again! (We can’t WAIT!)
I explored the rear seats with my girls and we all agreed there was ample legroom for children and adults alike.
Safety is a Priority in the Armada Platinum
The Armada Platinum is loaded with advanced safety features like emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane departure warning.
Convenience safety like adaptive (Intelligent) cruise control which automatically keeps you within the flow of traffic speed with the cruise control on and rain-sensing windshield wipers are also fantastic features for a family car and are standard on the Armada.
The Design and Styling Don’t Disappoint
If you love the boxy look of a truck but want smoother edges, the Armada might be exactly right for you. I appreciate the large look and feel of it, like a truck, but with a more fine-tuned rounded-edge design to give it that high-quality SUV appearance.
Trims and Price Points
The base model Armada starts at $65,898 and you will get seating for 8 with a second-row bench seat, leather seating, intelligent cruise control, and a Bose audio system.
Step to the Platinum for $72,398 and add the lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, climate-controlled front seats and DVD entertainment system.
For an additional $500 you can go to the second-row captain’s chairs in the Platinum.
Jump up to $75,898 for the Platinum Reserve and you will add the captain’s chairs, dark chrome exterior trim: front grille, door handles, and outside mirrors, 20″ dark chrome wheels and two-tone leather seats and interior trim with unique stitching.
Great for family adventure and daily hectic family living
We averaged 16 L/100 KM in fuel economy, so it’s not great – that’s something to consider. That said, it is a V8 and more of a truck than many of the 3-row SUVs out there – so it really depends if that is what you’re looking for!
Stay safe and I look forward to many more road trip adventures to come when we can!
