Getting your child prepared for school is one of the best things you can do to set them up for success. Choosing a program that not only helps them academically but, also allows them to explore their own interests through purposeful play. When your child is aware of the expectations in the classroom they can walk into their first day of school at ease and excited to learn. Jumpstart Learning Academy has been educating both parents and children for over 13 years and we are thrilled to share more about their programming with you!
About Jumpstart Learning Academy
Jumpstart Learning Academy is a preschool that effortlessly blends structured learning with “play with purpose”. They are a strong option for families that want more than free play – without the commitment of full time daycare. Their teacher-led routines and hands-on activities build a solid foundation in literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
What you can expect in the classroom:
- Small Class Sizes – Capped at 12–14 (depending on classroom/location), with two educators
- Assessments – Each student receives an initial assessment using our proprietary assessment tool which incorporates key learning outcomes from the Kindergarten and Grade 1 Alberta Education Curriculum. The information from this assessment is used to create a personalized learning plan for your child.
- Literacy– They include phonics, rhyming, segmenting and blending, concepts of print, oral comprehension and vocabulary, questioning strategies, sequencing, predicting, and storytelling
- Math Skills – Introductory math concepts will include counting, using one-to-one correspondence to count 10 or more objects, number recognition, classifying objects according to attribute, identifying and naming basic shapes.
- Creative Expression – Children will express themselves through music, drama and art activities by engaging in action songs, art activities, and telling stories using props and their imagination.
- Fine/Gross Motor Skills – Fine motor skill areas that are emphasized include copying simple shapes, using paintbrushes, cutting with safety scissors, assembling puzzles, coloring and drawing pictures. Gross motor skill areas include running, jumping, catching, bouncing, throwing a ball, and exhibiting stamina during physical activity.
- and much more!
Explore Programs
Offering a wide variety of program options including Kindergarten and Summer learning you’re sure to find the perfect fit.
Discovery Program Ages 2-3 (Parented)
Offered once per week, the Discovery Program is a fun, parented class where children and parents learn side by side in a structured, teacher-led environment. Little ones explore songs, games, and purposeful activities that build early social and learning skills, while parents pick up strategies to support learning at home. Families also receive priority registration into the PREP Program for the following year.
Prep Program Ages 3-4 (Solo)
Introduces children to structured, independent learning while keeping play at the heart of every lesson. Students develop fine motor skills, early letter/sound recognition, and pre-reading awareness through a balance of daily worksheets, purposeful centres, and guided instruction. Parents receive progress reports throughout the year, and families enjoy priority registration into the Scholars Program for the following year.
Scholars Program Ages 4-5 (Solo)
The Scholars Program builds strong foundations in reading, writing, math, and social skills through structured lessons and purposeful play. Families can choose the tier that fits best with optional weekend classes. Each tier follows the same high-quality curriculum, with more frequent attendance giving children greater confidence, mastery, and readiness for Kindergarten, Grade 1, and beyond.
Scholars Ultimate Kinder Experience Ages 4-6 (Solo)
The Scholars Ultimate Kinder Experience delivers a full Kindergarten-level program designed to give children the strongest possible start to the public or private school system.
With five days per week of instruction, students benefit from daily literacy, numeracy, science, and discovery blocks, along with more one-on-one teacher time and extended practice. This consistent routine builds confidence, independence, and mastery, making it the ultimate choice for families seeking a complete school-readiness experience.
Enriched Summer Program Ages 3-6 (Solo)
Keep your child learning and growing all summer long with two flexible options: a 6-week Enriched School Readiness Program that mirrors our September–June curriculum, or Weekly Enriched Themes that families can pick and choose for added flexibility. Both formats blend literacy, numeracy, and social development with fun, hands-on activities — the perfect mix of learning and summer fun.
