Edmonton Fringe Festival

The Fringe is back for another year and as always my whole family is so excited to see what they have going on.

If you don’t know what The Fringe is its an international theatre festival that takes place on Whyte ave around the mid-end of August each year. Incredibly, the Fringe has been happening every year since 1982!  They offer a wide variety of entertainment from musical theatre, burlesque, puppetry, musical theatre, dance, and much more! You’re able to purchase tickets to different shows but there are also street performers that you can simply tip at the end of their performance. We usually spend most of our time at The Kids Fringe as they have tons of kid-friendly activities.

Kids Fringe

The Kids Fringe is a special area dedicated specifically for your children! They have a variety of different activities from face painting, book nook, tots tent ( ages 0-5), and even a stage for performances. Our kids have a blast everytime we go and it’s a struggle to get them to leave. They also have passports and for every activity they complete they get a sticker and if they complete them all they get a special treat! All of these activities are free but, if you would like to make a donation that would be fabulous as all proceeds to go funding the Fringe and ensure that the theatre is affordable and accessible to everyone.

The Kids Fringe has moved locations this year over to the Strathcona Community League. Because they have moved they now have access to an indoor theatre for all of their kid’s shows!
