There is one thing that many parents forget to do as part of their back-to-school routine: eye exams. In fact, about 35% of Canadian parents don’t even think about eye exams at the beginning of the school year. A pretty shocking number when considering how important eye health is for your child and their educational career. Thankfully there are great programs out there helping kids see for free!
Keeping an eye, pun intended, on things from a young age can help prevent larger issues down the line. So making sure they have a clean bill of health for the new school year should always be at the top of your to-do list!
WHY ARE EYE EXAMS IMPORTANT?
They are vital to ensure your child has the visual skills they need to do their best in school. Being able to catch things early on can mean preventing bigger issues down the road, which means every exam is an investment. Vision problems in school can lead to headaches and tiredness, along with that frustration while trying to learn.
WHO DO WE TRUST?
This year my girls and I decided to head to Real Canadian Superstore. Helping Kids See Free program allows kids between the ages of 4-10, to receive any frame (up to $49 value) with single vision, polycarbonate ‘kids safe’ lens for FREE. Making better eye care options available to those who need it most. With the cost of living rising all over, amazing programs like this are an incredible help to all families.
Each of the girls received incredibly thorough exams that they managed to smile through without any complaints. Being able to help me do some shopping in the process, the kind and attentive staff in the Optical Department, my girls and I were able to get more than a few things checked off our to-do lists that day.
Being able to get my kid’s eye exams without the worry of the potential cost for glasses is a big blessing for our family and I know we aren’t the only ones. We want to thank the Optical team at the Real Canadian Superstore for helping us with our annual eye exams and for creating such a great program like Kids See Free. It means so much to our families and so many others across Canada.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU GOT YOUR KIDS’ EYES CHECKED?
