Helping us spread the word about Modern Mama North Shore and our upcoming Launch Party at Gymboree on January 27th are three wonderful media sponsors: yoyomama.ca, North Shore Mama, and kidsvancouver.com.
Every mama knows that precious moments to ourselves are few and far between. And we certainly don’t have time to comb through endless websites, blogs and emails to stay in the loop about what’s hip and happening. Enter yoyomama – a free daily email that arrives weekday mornings with up-to-the minute info on the latest kid-friendly events, places, seasonal activities, services, gear and eco-friendly finds in Vancouver and the surrounding burbs. This is one email that lands in my inbox 3 days a week that I actually read regularly. Nothing makes it into these emails that they haven’t tested and loved themselves. Dedicated advertorial emails will appear every so often on behalf of paying sponsors (how else is a mama supposed to pay her bills?!), but even those are chock-full of great deals and info, so we’re not complaining. And for those of you connected via smartphone 24/7, check out yoyomama‘s recently launched OnTheGoKids free iPhone app for handy family-friendly event listings at your fingertips!
Up next is our favourite North Shore blogger, Jessica Blumel (aka “North Shore Mama“). A soon-to-be mom of two and a lover of all things North Shore, Jessica has created a thoughtful, entertaining, up-to-date resource for us busy moms. From her regular activity posts (think crafts, kids concerts, etc.), to no-fuss recipes even your toddler will eat, and lots of giveaways, her content is sure to please. And our favourite feature on her website is her interactive calendar that lists tons of free or low-cost activities for families on the North Shore, including library story times, drop in play gyms and special events. If you miss out on any of her blog posts, sign up for North Shore Mama‘s weekly email to get a convenient summary of all she’s covered!
Kids Vancouver is another great online resource on all-things-kids in the Lower Mainland. Operated by busy Maple Ridge mom, Cathy Piso, this website includes extensive listings of activities, playgroups, attractions, indoor play centres, shopping, services, and family events. We especially love their birthday party resource which provides ideas for local entertainers, venues and decorations, and the Kid Swap Meet section is wonderful for parents looking to find some great deals on gently used items for their kids. Other highlights include “Chef Mom” recipes and a blog (with a particularly interesting recent post on “iPhone contracts for your child“). You’ll be sure to find creative and exciting adventures for you and your family to enjoy at kidsvancouver.com!
