Luxury AND it’s Seats up to 7, YES, An All-new Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 is here for you.
A 3-row SUV is an ultimate convenience for Moms. Kids come with activities, playdates, carpools, and road trips, and that 3rd-row comes in mighty-handy! Just keep in mind this compact SUV is just that, compact, so this 3-row might just maybe best only for occasional use only.
Unfortunately, the test model I drove did not have the optional 3rd row, but you can tell from the size of the cargo area that the seats would be pretty tiny.
So you want luxury features, high-end advanced safety features, and the look and feel of a European brand? Look no further, the GLB 250 is here.
This model is brand new in the Mercedes-Benz lineup for 2020, so let’s have a look at the new GLB250.
What’s to Love
For a luxury brand to offer an SUV with an optional 3rd-row starting at $43,900 is pretty special. It’s a compact SUV but with all the capabilities of a twice-the-price version, and even looks like a mini GLS 450.
This is a 4MATIC which means all-wheel-drive and is actually off-road capable with hill descent control and hill-start assist but would you take your family Mercedes-Benz off-road for real? I don’t think so. However, this SUV is ready for snow, ice, hills, and anything your family can put it through. Camping? Sure! Road trips? Yes! Hockey weekends? Absolutely.
The MBUX user experience technology and infotainment mean you can say “Hey Mercedes” and your car will literally speak back to you and help you with simple voice commands such as “Turn on the driver’s seat heater” or “Call home”. The fully tech-loaded touchscreen can customize everything from which safety and lighting settings you want to adjust to controlling your Apple CarPlay.

- Blind-spot monitoring
- Active lane-change assist
- Lane-keeping
- Speed Limit monitor
- Active steering assist
- Pre-safe collision mitigation

But how much will this set me back?
Expect to pay a premium for this compact SUV if you want this euro styling and engineering. The base price is CAD $43,990 but options add up quickly, the as shown model with Sport, Premium, Night, Technology, Navigation, and Intelligent Drive packages topped out at CAD $56,465
A Luxe European Family Hauler
It’s luxury and tech-loaded, however, it’s a bit on the smaller side, so if you have or are planning on having more than 2 children, I would recommend a larger 3-row SUV.
