Out & About: Weekend of June 1st & 2nd

The weather forecast for this weekend on the North Shore is currently mainly cloudy & 16 degrees (Sat) and partially cloudy & 18 degrees (Sun), so we could do worse!

It shouldn’t be wet (fingers crossed the forecast is right!), so grab your families and head on out to a night market, community day, Thomas & Friends train ride, school spring carnival and more!

 

Fri, May 31st (5pm – 10pm) – Shipyards Night Market (FREE EVENT)
Location: Lonsdale Shipyards, 15 Wallace Mews, North Vancouver

Details: Entering its third year, the Night Market has exploded into a fantastic night out. The combo of a wide variety of foods, face painting, live local music, farmers and handcrafted goods makes for a great evening for all ages. Over 50 tents are filled with local products showcasing BC’s artisans, bakers and farmers.

 

Sat, June 1st (10am – 6pm) – West Van Community Day (FREE EVENT)
Location: John Lawson Park & Ambleside Park, West Vancouver

Details: Bring your family down for a fun-filled day on the West Van waterfront! There will be a parade, family bike ride, floats, doggy parade, classic car show, craft market, concert stage, kids zone bouncy slide, games and activities, info booths, dance stage, food vendors & more. Sat, June 1st & Sun, June 2nd (9:30 am – 5pm) – A Day Out With Thomas & Friends
Location: West Coast Railway Heritage Park, 39645 Government Rd, Squamish

Details: A Day Out With Thomas provides an opportunity for kids to take a ride with their favourite tank engine, meet the railway controller Sir Topham Hatt, have fun in the Imagination Station, storytelling, hands-on crafts, and much more! Get your tickets early…this one sells out fast!

 

Sat, June 1st (11am – 2pm) – School Spring Carnival
Location: Dorothy Lynas Elementary School, 4000 Inlet Crescent, North Van

Details: Enjoy an afternoon with the family at Dorothy Lynas Spring Carnival with pony rides, games, cake walk, food and more!

 

Sun, June 2nd (10am – 12noon) – Youth Learn to Fish Program (BY DONATION)
Location: Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, North Vancouver

Details: Bring your kids aged 5 – 15 to learn about fish identification, conservation, handling, tackle, rod rigging, and enjoy an hour of fishing. All equipment provided and no registration required! Suggested donation is $5 per youth.

 

Sun, June 2nd (12noon -4pm) – Summerfest at Brockton School
Location: Brockton School, 3467 Duval Road, North Vancouver

Details: Brockton School Summerfest is a great day out for the community and families. Lots of fun for everyone including BBQ, games, North Shore Green Market, music, bouncy castle, dunk tank and more!
