One of the best parts of working with Modern Mama is networking with so many local and awesome businesses! I absolutely love shopping local because you often get to meet the people behind it all and see the passion they put into their work. A lot of these items are even handmade by fellow moms who are gifted in the diy department (unlike me!). In just a short time span I have come across so many unique and cool items that I had never heard of and now I want to share those discoveries with you! Be prepared though mamas, you may be purchasing an item or two after reading this post!
Melissa from Classy Crochet Creations (in Stony Plain) knits these adorable hooded bear cowls! I just picked one up for Olivia who is turning 1 at the end of October. It’s sure to keep her warm this winter! Melissa also takes custom orders and has so many unique items on her website. I am considering ordering my chair some custom knitted socks…I think it’s pretty self explanatory what these are but if not, look for them on her website!
2. Mini Posh
I met the lovely ladies behind Mini Posh at Hottest Tot Products 2014 and they are definitely the trendiest moms I know, and they are super sweet too! So it’s no wonder that their Fall/Winter Collection has some of the hippest baby clothes I have ever seen. I couldn’t resist and picked Olivia up a cute little dress (below) that I think will be perfect for our upcoming family photos! Also, Mini Posh has a wide selection of ‘Frozen’ themed items for all of you mamas with Princess Anna/Elsa loving daughters.
Leah from Whimsical Elements (in Stony Plain) gave us a beautiful basket of handmade hair accessories for Hottest Tot Products 2014. I will have to order from her once she is done with Weestock 2014, a trade show bringing together indie & boutique baby items all under one roof! Talk about the coolest super mommy! Weestock will actually be in Stony Plain this year on October 11 @ The Pavillion in Heritage Park so make sure to check it out!
If the little one in your life (or your big kid aka Daddy) loves superheroes then you need to check out Nest Creations. Lovingly crafted by three local artists, these items are sure to delight both young and old Superhero lovers. I myself cannot get over these custom made superhero magnets and handmade batman earrings! They also make larger clay models and can even design cake toppers! If you are headed to Edmonton Comic Expo this weekend make sure to stop by and give them some love.
