Hello August!

Summer is halfway over but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end; in fact this month is full of awesome things to do with the family and we have rounded up what is happening this weekend here:

Blueberry Bluegrass & Country Music Festival

The Blueberry Bluegrass & Country Music Festival is back again and is just as exciting as ever; in addition to a variety of live entertainment, there will be a variety of activities as well!

Polynesian Days

Alberta Beach invites you to enjoy their annual “Poly Days“. There will be a parade, spray and play activities, axe throwing, BBQ, and more activities for the family!

Cost: Most activities are free, some are provided at additional cost

Servus Heritage Festival

Servus Heritage Festival is pleased to feature 70 pavilions representing over 90 cultures from all over the world.

Sample from over 500 culinary delicacies, see creative performances, shop for crafts, artwork, and clothing, or chat with people eager to tell you a little about their cultural roots and their present-day communities in Canada.”

Fairy Berry Festival

Fairies, pirates, home made berry shortcake, folk music, and maze adventures in the Mindbender and Kidz Corn Mazes are all part of the family fun at the Fairy Berry Festival.

When: August 5 + 6 + 7
Where: Prairie Garden and Adventure Farm
Cost: $10.50 per person for families

Pencil Toppers

For the month of August, your children can attend a craft making workshop at Micheals Canada – each week features a different craft and this weekend it will be Summer Planters. Find the details here.

Cineplex Family Favorites

Did you know that every Saturday there is a “Family Favorites” movie showing at various Cineplex Theatres; this week features Pup Star.

John Walter Museum

Take a step back in time and see how John Walter (and the Strathcona community of Walterdale) lived from 1875 to 1920!

Movies on the Square

The City of Edmonton presents Movies on the Square – a free outdoor movie series. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the pre-movie entertainment before taking in Moana, that will be playing on a 3-storey high inflatable screen.

The Edmonton Public Library offers a variety of activities suitable for the whole family at each branch but they also have extra special activities happening daily and you can find what is happening near you here.
