U-pick apple season is almost done at Taves Family Farm. The farm closes for the season on October 31st, 2019. They currently have Jonagold apples left, which are one of my favourite that they grow. It is also one of the most used apples on their farm. You will find Jonagold apples in the Apple Butter, Apple Salsa and Apple Pie Filling. The cider is also partly made with Jonagold and Honey Crisp apples. With an effort to shop local this season I picked up some of their apple products to make and freeze some items to use for later. Here are a few of the ideas that I found:

Apple Pie Filing
Apple Pie Enchiladas from Mommy’s Kitchen
These could be a hot or cold breakfast snack or an-easy to make dessert. These take less than 30 minutes to prep and bake.

- Water
- Brown Sugar

Apple Pie Poke Cake from Plain Chicken
The prep and cook time for this is under 30 minutes. It makes 12 servings.
- Yellow Cake Mix
- Apple Pie Filling
- Vanilla Extract
- Cinnamon
- Eggs
- Milk
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Carmel
- Toffee Bits
- Cool-Whip or Whipped Cream
Apple Butter
Apple Butter Pancakes from Kleinworth & Co.
These could make 9 regular size pancakes or double if doing silver dollar. These pancakes can be made with a box mix from the grocery store or completely from scratch. Taves Family Farm also carries an apple pie syrup if you wanted to pair the two together.

Apple Butter Cheesecake from Baked by Rachel
This recipe is for approximately 12 servings. The prep and baking time is about 120 minutes. This would be the perfect addition to any family dinner or dessert for a school lunch.
