Upcoming Events!

Starting this weekend – November 24 to December 24: Vancouver Christmas Market The Vancouver Christmas Market is back for its third year at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza! Sample delicious food items, find unique Christmas gift ideas, enjoy seasonal music and a great entertainment program of authentic folk groups! Plus this year, for every paid admission, you will receive a free re-entry pass for the entire season. So pay once, go often. I was invited on a media tour of the market for tomorrow and will report back!

This weekend: November 23-24Candytown – A Yaletown Holiday Festival – This is presented by the Yaletown Business Improvement Association and is a free outdoor Christmas festival on Mainland Street. Entertainment includes an ice rink, Christmas Street Market, Horse-drawn Carriage Tours, Reindeer, an appearance by Trevor Linden, and of course…Santa!

This Sunday: November 25WestCoast Kids Presents The Modern Bump Lunch for Pregnant Mamas – We are giving away over $2000 in prizes plus attendees will be treated to a 3-course lunch and watch expert speakers on pregnancy related topics. Will be a great afternoon!

Thursday, November 29th Evening Exclusive at Saf & Benjamin Baby Boutique November 29th –  Modern Mama Vancouver is sponsoring this excellent mom’s night out event! Access to major discounts, special guests, giveaways, cocktails & refreshments. One of my favourite baby boutiques in town. Space is limited so get your ticket soon.

Starting Thursday, November 29thBright Nights Christmas Train at Stanley Park– Hop on the miniature train from November 29 to January 1 (closed on Christmas Day). Ride the train, watch animated displays, listen to holiday classics, sip warm cocoa, and feast on fresh popcorn or roasted nuts.

Saturday, December 1st Modern Mama Toddler Series: Potty Training Basics – Get the intel needed to start your potty training journey with confidence. Speaker Desiree Cluff of Rockababy has helped several families though this process and will share some best practices.

Sunday, December 2nd – The Rogers Santa Claus Parade – The parade starts at 1 pm and features over 60 marching bands, festive floats and community groups winding through downtown Vancouver. Pre-parade festivities include live entertainment on the main stage, Decorate a Gingerbread Man, Write a Letter to Santa and more.

Starting Thursday, December 6th – Bloedel Jewel Box – Experience the warmth of a tropical paradise transformed for the holidays. Jewel Box of Lights at Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park takes place 6 December 2012 to 1 January 2013 (closed 25 December) from 4:30 pm to 9 pm daily.

Starting Friday, December 7th – Festival of Lights at Vandusen GardenI am looking forward to this one! VanDusen Botanical Garden will be decorated with hundreds of thousands of lights for the Festival of Lights.Enjoy the twinkling lights and light show, take a stroll down Candy Cane Lane, hear the sweet sounds of caroling, and get in to the spirit of the season. Line-ups can get long, so buy your tickets in advance.

Saturday, December 8th – Holiday Beauty Event for Mamas – Modern Mama Vancouver & Burnaby are teaming up with the fabulous new Curlique Beauty Boutique on Robson Street for a fun morning to get you ready for all those holiday parties looking your most amazing. You’ll be treated to a manicure, make-up application, an holiday fashion tips. You will leave this event feeling gorgeous, refreshed, and ready to tackle that holiday shopping!

Saturday & Sunday, December 14 & 15 – Breakfast with Santa – Attend the 6th annual event! Enjoy a delicious breakfast, a visit with Santa, and the best in children’s entertainment, face painting, activities, giveaways and more. This event also raises funds for the Strathcona Community Centre’s Food Security for Children, an essential program that helps to feed children on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Vancouver Winter Farmers Market – The Winter Farmers Market starts up again this Saturday, November 3rd, 10am-2pm weekly at the East Parking Lot of Nat Bailey Stadium. I love this market – since there’s only one market in the winter season, everything is in one place! Fresh veggies, great food trucks, music, and a celebration of everything local and delicious. A worthy weekly destination for you and the family.

Vancouver Bakers Market – every Saturday until December 8th (closed Oct 27) Inspired by traditional farmers markets in Vancouver, you’ll find talented budding, professional or home bakers selling fresh artisanal breads, soft German pretzels, butter croissants, chocolate croissants, cupcakes, yummy cookies, hand made chocolates, brownies, Belgian Liege waffles,vegan cupcakes, mini bundt cakes, muffins, gluten-free baked goods and much more!
