FRIDAY, AUGUST 15th

 
 
Treetop Tales (11 – 11:30 am) (Suggested $2 donation) 
Location: Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre  3663 Park Road, North Van
Details: Leaping lizards, it’s nature story time! Visit the Ecology Centre for seasonal songs and stories with a nature theme. For children aged 2 and up, with an adult.
 
Friday Night Market at the Shipyards (5 – 10 pm) (FREE) 
Location: Shipbuilder’s Square at the foot of Lonsdale, North Van
Details: The popular Friday night market is back! Each week you can enjoy fresh food, locally made products, musicians, art and live entertainment. There are always LOTS of kids dancing up a storm in front of the stage. If you’re hungry make sure you visit the food trucks and then stop by the beer and wine garden.
 
Summer Concert Series: Live in Lynn Valley Village (7-9pm) (FREE) 
Location: 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Van
Details: Family-friendly concerts on Friday nights all summer long! Bring your chairs and kiddies out this Friday to hear Robyn & Ryleigh (Country), and dance the night away! There are always tons of toddlers & young kids out enjoying these concerts!
 
Summer Concert Series: Evenings in Edgemont (7-9pm) (FREE) 
Location: 3000 block of Highland Boulevard, North Van
Details: Family-friendly concerts on Friday nights all summer long! Bring your chairs and kiddies out this Friday to hear Tiller’s Folly (Roots), and dance the night away! There are always tons of toddlers & young kids out enjoying these concerts!
 
Summer Concert Series: Concerts in the Cove (7-9pm) (FREE) 
Location: Panorama Park, 2200 Block of Panorama Drive, North Van
Details: Family-friendly concerts on Friday nights all summer long! Bring your chairs and kiddies out this Friday to hear Pernell Reichert Band (Art Folk), and dance the night away! There are always tons of toddlers & young kids out enjoying these concerts!
 
 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16th

 
The World’s Largest Sandbox (10 am – 6 pm)
Location: Second Beach, Stanley Park, Vancouver
Details: Mental health issues affect 1 in 5 kids but often go unnoticed. Learn about this important topic, help raise awareness, and play in the sand at the same time! Come over for a fun day of sandcastles, mini golf, bouncy castles, kids’ yoga, food trucks, inspiring speakers, and lots of fun activities for all ages: www.hellosandbox.ca
 
Imagine & Explore: Swishing Salmon (10:30am – 12pm)
Location: Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre, 3663 Park Road, North Van
Details: Get your fins swishing during this splashy salmon adventure at the Ecology Centre! For children aged 3 to 6 years old, with an adult. Pre-register at 604-990-3755. $8.25 per child, adults FREE.       
 
Family Movie at the Library – The Little Mermaid  (2:30 – 4 pm) (FREE)
Location: Capilano Library, 3045 Highland Blvd in Edgemont, North Van
Details: Don’t miss a screening of the Disney classic The Little Mermaid! The multiple Academy Award –winning film is the enchanting story of beautiful young mermaid and a handsome prince. Combining dazzling art and effects animation with seven original songs, this film is true masterpiece! 
 
Cates Park Summer Concerts (4 – 7pm) (FREE)
Location: Cates Park / Whey-ah-Wichen – 4100 Dollarton Hwy, North Van
Details: The Cates Park Concerts are free outdoor concerts, held each summer in picturesque Cates Park, North Vancouver. This concert series showcases local bands, featuring talented young artists performing on the outdoor stage from 4-7pm on Saturdays in July and August. Each concert will feature 3 local bands, and the final concert will showcase 9 singer/songwriters. So catch one performance, or bring your blanket and lawn chair and catch them all. Pack a picnic or get food from Wally’s Burgers at the Cates Park Concession (concession is open daily during the summer from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, weather dependent). For info call 250-725-3696. 
 
Summer Sessions at Shipbuilders’ Square (7 – 10pm) (FREE)
Location: Shipbuilders’ Square, Foot of Lonsdale, North Van
Details: A free summer concert series at Shipbuilders’ Square at the foot of Lonsdale. Taking place on Saturdays from July 5 – August 30, the series features free evening concerts with a diverse mix of performers and musicians. Early afternoons will feature a variety of fun family activities including free interactive art for kids, face painters, and “Painters at the Pier”. Each Saturday will host a variety of food trucks, local artisan vendors and a beer garden for those 19 and over. Bring the family, bring a chair and come to have fun.
 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17th

 

SummerFest 2014: Concert Series Sundays (1-3pm) (FREE)

Location: Lonsdale Quay, 123 Carrie Cates Court, North Van

Details: Free live concerts featuring a different music genre each week, with returning favourites and world-renowned performers. There is something to please every musical taste! This Saturday features Robyn and Ryleigh (Folk-Pop duo).
