FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th
Friday Night Market at the Shipyards (5 – 10 pm) (FREE) Location: Shipbuilder’s Square at the foot of Lonsdale, North Van Details: The popular Friday night market is back! Each week you can enjoy fresh food, locally made products, musicians, art and live entertainment. There are always LOTS of kids dancing up a storm in front of the stage. If you’re hungry make sure you visit the food trucks and then stop by the beer and wine garden.SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th
Brazilfest (4 – 9 pm) (FREE) Location: Shipbuilder’s Square at the foot of Lonsdale, North Van Details: Brazilfest is a family-friendly event attracting people of all ages interested in the vibrant and diverse culture of Brazil. The festival will feature an interactive exhibition of Capoeira and Jiu-jitsu, Latin dance performances, children’s activities including face painting, drawing, puppeteering, storytelling and traditional Brazilian games, vendors of Brazilian food and drinks, food trucks, artisans showcasing Brazilian products and a Brazilian choir presentation.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th
Board the Fjord – Standup Paddle Board Race (8:30 am reg, 10:30 am race starts) Location: Deep Cove, North Van Details: Board the Fjord is Deep Cove’s Premier Stand Up Paddleboard Event. There will be a full day of racing and festivities in beautiful Deep Cove and Indian Arm. The scenic race course takes paddlers around 7 different islands in North America’s southern most fjord. The race is open to recreational and competitive paddlers and everyone is encouraged to challenge themselves at this great event. Long and short course available, as well as a free kids race. Terry Fox Run (9 am registration, 10 am race starts) Location: Inter River Park, Premier St., North Van AND Ambleside Park at 13th Street, West Van Details: The Terry Fox Run is a family-oriented, non-competitive, fun-filled event which raises money for cancer research. There is no pre-registration or registration fee and no minimum amount to raise, however participants are asked to make a donation at the event or online. Participants can walk, run, or bike any of the distances that are available. Sunday, September 14 Registration at 9:00am Run starts at 10:00am By Donation Inter River Park Premier Street, North Vancouver 1km, 2km, 5km & 10km distances Ambleside Park at 13th Street, West Vancouver 5km & 10km distances Children’s Book Launch Party @ Indigo (11 am – 2 pm) (FREE) Location: Shipbuilder’s Square at the foot of Lonsdale, North Van Details: Modern Mama is pleased to present a fun book launch & signing party for families at Indigo Park Royal this Sunday! North Vancouver author (and dear friend of mine) Zahra Ladha Jiwani invites you all to the launch of her new book with a powerful message for kids – understanding what goals are, and how to set them, and get them. At the book launch & signing party, kids can enjoy face painting by BC Playthings, crafts, and treats provided by COBS Bread, while parents speak to Zahra about the important message in her book.
