FAMILY EVENTS ON THE NORTH SHORE

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th
Friday Night Market at the Shipyards (5 – 10 pm) (FREE) Location: Shipbuilder’s Square at the foot of Lonsdale, North Van Details: Only two more weeks left for the Friday Night Market! Each week you can enjoy fresh food, locally made products, musicians, art and live entertainment. There are always LOTS of kids dancing up a storm in front of the stage. If you’re hungry make sure you visit the food trucks and then stop by the beer and wine garden. North Shore Culture Days (All Day – various times) (FREE) Location: Various locations across the North Shore Details: Culture Days is a national movement to raise the awareness, accessibility and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Here on the North Shore, community members of all ages and artistic persuasions are invited to participate in a wide range of FREE, hands-on activities over the Culture Days weekend in North and West Vancouver. North Van District Public Library’s 50th Birthday Party (1 – 4 pm) (FREE) Location: Lynn Valley Library 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Van Details: Enjoy an afternoon of free festivities and family fun, including a puppet show, story time, face painters, sidewalk chalk, a balloon artist, cupcakes and children’s entertainer Angela Kelman. Plus, they will be announcing the winners of the Find a Golden Library Card Competition.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th
North Shore Culture Days (All Day – various times) (FREE) Location: Various locations across the North Shore Details: Culture Days is a national movement to raise the awareness, accessibility and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Here on the North Shore, community members of all ages and artistic persuasions are invited to participate in a wide range of FREE, hands-on activities over the Culture Days weekend in North and West Vancouver. Trolley Dances (11 am – 5 pm) (FREE) Location: CityScape Community Art Space 335 Lonsdale Avenue 604-988-6844 Details: Enjoy a trolley ride, explore the North Shore and experience unique dance performances! The trolleys will transport guests on a guided magical mystery tour to four secret locations, where audiences will be entertained by site-specific performances. Trolley audiences will only discover the locations as the trolley arrives, adding intrigue and excitement to the event. Audiences get the opportunity to discover sites across the North Shore that they might not have been exposed to before. They will also be entertained by Tour Guides on the trolleys, with stories and anecdotes along the route and about the performance sites. The trolleys, provided by the Vancouver Trolley Company, will depart from CityScape Community Art Space starting at 12pm. There are a limited number of tickets available for this event and they will sell out, so buy yours today! Lynn Valley Lions Community Garden Opening Celebration (1 – 4 pm) (FREE) Location: 3590 Mountain Highway at the corner of Frederick Road, North Van Details: Join in the celebrations at the opening of the Lynn Valley Lions community garden. Meet the garden coordinators, participate in a free workshop and meet Mayor Richard Walton. There will be food and refreshments and fun kids activities.
