Mary Poppins Jr. holds all the magic and unforgettable songs and dances of the original award-winning Broadway musical with the simplicity of this shorter version. With so much charm and fun, it will be a wonder how they can hit all the high notes before the day even ends. The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. The Fraser Valley Academy of Dance offers a Musical Theatre Summer Camp in August. Students will have the opportunity to sing, dance, act and be a part of a mini-musical at the end of the week. The camp is for ages 7-18 years old. No previous experience is necessary. The camp is from 9am to 5pm. They also offer a choir camp, which is a half day program, offered within the musical theatre camp. Students get a week of vocal training, chorus, harmonies and music reading. It is offered from 9am to noon.
