Hibernating with Netflix, your how-to Guide

Netflix

January has been a cold month here in Alberta and it doesn’t look like it will be too warm anytime soon. For some people the cold weather and snow encourages outdoor activities of all kinds, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, skating, snowshoeing, and several more I’m sure. For me the cold weather encourages hibernation, the kind where we don’t go out unless we absolutely have to (except for school, of course. The only days we’ve missed have been due to illness). So if you are like me and enjoy staying warm and cozy, this list is for you:

The key to cold weather hibernation is ensuring that you are comfy and cozy; in order to do this you will need:

  1. Comfortable Clothing and Fuzzy/Cozy Socks
  2. An oversized blanket
  3. Netflix
  4. Snacks! (Since its a new year and I’m all for Healthy lifestyles we have been eating slightly salted popcorn, fruit and veggies. Although we let loose with junk food every now and then as well!)
  5. Your family and/or viewing partner(s)

Now it can be hard to know what to watch on Netflix because there are just so many options! Personally I like a little bit of everything and often find myself watch a few different series at once. Right now I’m halfway through Peaky Blinders, Gracie & Frankie and Suits but with another season of Santa Clarita Diet on the horizon (second season coming later this year) I have added that to my list as well. My hubby is a huge fan of documentaries and sci fi and has recently finished Black Mirror, luckily for him Altered Carbon, a fast-paced cyberpunk series where death isn’t permanent and human consciousness can be digitized and downloaded from body to body, is coming to Netlfix on February 2nd!

Let’s be honest though, the majority of programs on in my house are kids shows; with three kids under the age of seven, our TV is almost always on the Kids’ Netflix profile. In the spirit of honesty, I love most of the shows myself and my hubby and I have binge watched Trollhunters without the kids. ha

As I have mentioned before my children have very different interests and we have been known to use timers and schedules to get through a day of Netflix watching; luckily for me though they are all LOVING the new Llama Llama series! All three of them enjoy the show and I think it’s pretty cute as well!

Another show they have been into lately is Trolls: The Beat Goes On! My daughter celebrated her birthday earlier this month and one of her Auntie’s bought her the Trolls movie and some Trolls swag; of course this has inspired the kids to watch the movie multiple times, for multiple days. Let’s just say I was quite happy when they agreed to give the Trolls series a go, and even happier when they all enjoyed it!

We would love to know what your top hibernating picks are too, comment below and let us know!
