How Does He Do It?…with Matthew Tully

Matthew Tully

Twice a month we interview dads in our “How Does He Do It?” feature. If interested in participating please reach out on Facebook or Instagram.

We are excited to introduce you to Matthew Tully. He is a social media specialist behind Answer The Tullyphone. “The beard is something I do yearly for both my kids on the school bus and everyone I bump into. It’s all about the smiles, and taking someone’s mind off of a what they may be going through for just a moment. If it does that for one person, then it was worth the work out in to grow, decorate and then clean up.”

Are you an urban or suburban dad, where do you live?

In a Dieppe Suburb on the New Brunswick East Coast of Canada.

Tell us about your children?

I have one awesome and sometimes stubborn daughter that will be a teen in December. (God help us) She is beautiful, silly and fun, but extremely hard on herself.

Tell us about your typical weekday?

I’m a school bus driver normally, but currently off with some health issues. Otherwise, it’s early rise and early rest to ensure I’m ready for my extended family of kids on the bus.

Do you have help?

My wife, of course, is the best! (I needed those points, thanks.) She does so much, even through everything she deals with.

Who cooks dinner?

It’s a toss up of me, her and sometimes whatever location won over on the night neither of us felt up to it. I’d say 60/40 her though right now.

How often do you have date nights?

We don’t…. we kind of found it a silly term to be honest. We enjoy each other’s company in different ways daily. Don’t get me wrong, if we need to get out, we go.

What clothing lines or stores do you like to purchase for your children?

Wherever the sales hit. We are not brand chasers, but love quality. It could be Old Navy/Gap this week and Walmart the next. We have easily hit up a thrift shop as a family now and again too!

Do you exercise regularly and if so, what and how do you fit in it?

I’d like for the answer here to be yes, but more often than not it would be a resounding no. Not that I couldn’t or don’t know that it doesn’t help, but out of just wanting to enjoy my time doing something else.

What is your favourite Christmas/Hanukkah gift that you have received as an adult?

At this point, I can’t say I have one. I love stuff…tech in particular, but I’m not very materialistic. I hold my live in memories and locations I’ve visited with family.

What are you currently watching?

I’m a binge watcher of Netflix and currently I’m running through the Blacklist. If I’m curled up in bed, you could find Friends, or pretty well anything on.

Thank you to Matthew Tully for taking the time out of his day to let us know “How Does He Do It.”
