Tage Lee posing with her book and a glass of wine

We are very excited to introduce you to Tage Lee from North Vancouver, British Columbia. She is married and has one daughter. She is also the author of a fun little book called “Mama Needs a Drink.” She wants to give parents everywhere a reason to smile amidst the wild journey of raising tiny humans with her fun tongue-in-cheek rhyming picture book, classified as more of a novelty book for adults but can be read to children as well who are lucky enough to have light hearted parents.

Are you an Urban or Suburban Mama, where do you live?

I think I’m an Urban-Suburban Mama, is that a thing? I live with my husband and daughter in North Vancouver in Lower Lonsdale which can feel like you are in the action sometimes, but also can feel like you are removed. There is a beautiful sense of a quiet community here, but being walking distance to the Seabus makes downtown accessible quickly if I’m craving more hustle.

Tell us about your children?

I have one daughter who’s name is Winslow. She is almost 3 and she is a little firecracker. She’s way more hilarious than me and surprises my husband and I everyday with her personality. Last night she was running around saying “Are you kidding me? Are you serious? That’s hilarious!!!” non-stop. She has personality plus and is anything but quiet. She loves pink and bows but will also be the first one to wrestle another kid in a bouncy castle if they are up to it.

Tell us about your typical weekday?

My typical weekday starts Winslow waking me up for a cuddle in our bed. She watches some morning cartoons while I get ready for work and she polishes off about 3 bowls (yes 3 bowls!!) of Rice Krispies. Once we are both ready I drop her off at daycare and I start my day at work. I work from home for my full-time gig for L’Oreal, so my day generally consists of emails, a conference call, and visiting different clients around the city. My husband or I will pick Winslow up from her day and head home where we all unwind and cook dinner. At night I’ll do more emails for my full time gig or side passion project (my book) and pour myself a big glass of vino. My job is wonderful for a work life balance and I’m very fortunate that I can work hard, mom hard, and also slang some books in the same 24 hour day.

Do you have help?

The term “it takes a village” has never been so true. My husband and I are a great parenting team but we for sure have help from family. We are lucky to be surrounded around wonderful family members who always step up to help. One of her Grandparents actually care for her 2 days a week, the other set of Grandparents 1 day a week, and then she is at daycare for the other 2. Winslow’s Aunties and Uncles are also always so willing to help and step in, we feel very fortunate. So yes, we do have help, also I will happily admit I do have a cleaner once a month. Cleaning is not one of my strengths!

Who cooks dinner?

I generally cook dinner (yay freshprep!), although in the summer my husband does a lot of meals on the BBQ, so he definitely steps up then.

How often do you buy something just for you?

I will “reward” myself and buy myself that is a “nice to have” over something that I need when I land a big new account or sell a certain amount of books. I set my goals and reward myself as I feel necessary.

Do you exercise regularly and if so, what and how do you fit it in?

I do! I exercise (mostly Orange Theory) 2-3 times a week. This is the first time in my life that I exercise not for vanity purposes but for mental health. When I work out I am a whole new me. I have more patience, I am a better mom, better wife, and better friend. It provides me the stress relief and clarity that I need. I make time to fit it in, I schedule classes ahead of time and work around it like it’s a meeting for work that I have to commit to. The clarity a good work out provides me just lends itself for me to work smarter and not harder, so I just make it work including it into my weekly goals.

What clothing lines or stores do you like to buy for your children?

Hautebox.ca has some really cute kids clothes online, run by local Mamas. Also, I always have wins at Zara and Old Navy for Winslow.
