How Does She Do It?….Leanne Janzen

It’s time for another How Does She Do It! We are thrilled to introduce you to our very own Modern Mama Director, Leanne Janzen from Winnipeg, Manitoba!

Are you an Urban or Suburban Mama, where do you live?

I am definitely an Urban Mama!  We live very central in the city, within walking distances to malls, shops, and great food!

Tell us about your children (how many, how old?)

I am a lucky mama of two fantastic boys, ages one and a half and five, and they couldn’t be more different!  My oldest is extremely loving, cuddly and sensitive, while my youngest is independent and active, yet relaxed!  The controversy makes for an interesting household.

Tell us about your typical weekday.

A typical day for me is a busy one.  I am up early for my two daycare kids, make breakfast, we have free play time in the morning and then lunch.  After lunch we bundle up..it’s freezing here now..and we take my oldest to his afternoon Kindergarten class, come home for some nap/quiet time, and have a snack once they wake up. We bundle up yet again to pick up from school!  We get back home around the same time as my hubby does from work and once my daycare kids are picked up we dinner prep and eat, then have some family time before the kids head to bed! Hubby and I always have some relaxing couch time before we head up to bed too!

Do you have help?

I have fantastic neighbors who are always on hand if it’s an extra cold day or I seem to be running behind throughout my day! For evenings and weekends, my mother and mother in law are always eager to take the boys if we have an obligation or a night out sans children!

Who cooks dinner?

My husband and I try to take turns making dinner, or make it together, but there are 2 weeks at a time when he is on evenings so I do it.  To be honest during those  weeks we eat out a tad more than usual and I get my pizza fix for the month!

How often do you buy something for just you?

Not often at all.  I am generally very weary of spending money on myself, and my closet definitely screams that!  The last item that I bought for myself was two weeks ago, and it was a wooden hand-made growth chart that adds a great splash of decorative color to my wall, but is technically a child keepsake!

Do you exercise regularly and if so, what and how do you fit it in?

Unfortunately I do not have a lot of time to work out.  Last year I had a personal trainer and went at least 3 times a week, but was finding it so hard to fit it in with the shift work schedule of my husband and the craziness of mine!

Three things in my purse right now … A phone charger, mitts, and one of my son’s Crocs (haha)
