Everyone loves being able to go to the Circus and Cirque du Soleil is the best of the best in terms of entertainment. Which is why I was so thrilled to be able to attend this year as well as sharing the extra special news. Cirque du Soleil Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities is here in Vancouver and they are here for an extra special extended period of time too making it possible to see the show all the way until Dec. 31st! Which makes this a show that you could even add to your Christmas wish list – in case you are in need of some great ideas.
Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS Cabinet of Curiosities is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop, transporting the audience inside a fantasy world where everything is possible. In this realm set in the latter half of the nineteenth century, reality is quite relative indeed as our perception of it is utterly transformed. The name of the show refers to the humble and strange characters that inhabit the Seeker’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
The incredible steampunk styled costumes are all complete wonders throughout the show. With incredible balance acts, the always gorgeous costumes and breathtaking set design you are in for a treat. This wondrous and spellbinding show will have to gasping and asking for more each and every act. We aren’t the only ones that thought this show was spectacular either. Critics have been raving across North America:
“Cirque du Soleil has come roaring back with: KURIOS a dazzling, hyper-detailed and generally fantastic show that reveals this extraordinary artistic company’s singular capacity for exploration and metamorphosis. It is not to be missed on any account.” said Chris Jones in The Chicago Tribune
Chris Jones is right, this is a Cirque show that you don’t want to miss. With an entire show dedicated to making you wonder more about the possibilities of your imagination this is the perfect show to take the family. There isn’t a moment where you aren’t wide eyed with anticipation about what they will be bringing out next.
If you splurge for the incredible VIP experience you are given all the bells and whistles with a private lounge, food and drinks of course and then an extra added bonus of being able to walk to your seats via a bridge that goes over the stage. It is a super special way to feel incredibly special at this brilliant production. Once the show is over of course make sure you take a browse through the gift shop there are so many great souvenirs you can pick up, I made sure not to leave without a CD of the show. The singer throughout the entire performance does such a beautiful job I needed to keep hearing it at home, I even picked one up during intermission for a gift for Christmas and I couldn’t be happier.
This a must see, so don’t miss out on your chance to enjoy Cirque du Soleil Kurios this year here in Vancouver!
