Let’s face it as mother’s we tend to put our needs last. However, Mother’s day is one of the few days of the year that we get put first and I love to take full advantage! I can’t think of a better way to enjoy Mother’s Day than at the spa and Edmonton has a new spa in town – One Hot Mama Salon & Spa! They provide us Edmonton parents with a wide variety of services, amazing daily and monthly deals, and on-site childcare. Which is a gamechanger for parents who maybe don’t have family nearby or if you try and be strategic with their babysitting.
About The Owner
Amanda Siltala is the owner of OHM and their main hair stylist! Amanda started doing hair 10 years ago and has worked in a variety of salons. Having her very own salon was something she has always wanted and with some elbow grease and some supportive friends and family, she opened her doors this January. As a single mom of two young children, she understands the struggle of trying to find childcare or having to lug bored kiddos along with you. Thus, having childcare on site was very important to her.
My Experience
On Friday afternoon I visited OHM spa and I was greeted by both Amanda and Jamie. Amanda put away my coat while Jamie showed me to their treatment room for my facial. My youngest opted to stay with dad this time around but I know he would have thoroughly enjoyed their awesome Kids Club. During my facial Jamie was extremely thorough as she explained everything to put on my face and why it was beneficial. She was also great at answering all the questions I had as I had been having issues with my skin lately. It was honestly the best facial I have ever had and I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Next up was my pedicure, which I desperately needed after this long winter. Jamie had the hot water all ready for me to soak my feet and go through their gel polishes. I loved that they offer a hot stone massage as an add on option for their pedicures. I had never experienced that before and I don’t think I will be able to go without it the next time!
On-Site Childcare
The cost of care is $5.00 per child per hour for the first child, $4.00 per hour for the second child, $3.00 per hour for the third child, and $2.00 per hour for additional children. All of her staff are trained in first aid and CPR which is a huge relief as a parent. Amanda also had a camera installed in the playroom with a TV out in the hall so you’re able to check in on your kiddos without them seeing you! You’re able to bring snacks and drinks for your child as long as they are nut free and properly labeled with your child’s name.
