Unless a resolution is reached over the weekend, we know that working North Shore parents of school-aged kids will be scrambling for day-camps and other childcare options starting on Tuesday, September 2nd!
Here’s a round-up of what we’ve found so far (will be updated as more options become available).
Twisted Mat Yoga Kids Club – For kids aged 2-9. Join Twisted Mat Yoga for a two or four-hour yoga twisted kids club featuring yoga, arts & crafts, nature and more for 2-5 and 6-9. Cost: $200/week; $125/3 days; $85/2 days; $50/4 hour drop-in; $25 for two hour drop-in. Click HERE for details.
Absolute Cheer & Tumbling – $40 a day 8 hour care for families, which will include plenty of supervision and fun, safe physical activity for children. Click HERE for details.
Bearfoot Playground Camps – For kids starting Kindergarten and Grade 1. Full day & half-day camps (9am- noon and 12:30 – 3:30 pm). Arts & crafts, learning, storytelling, outdoor fun, playtime, snacks. Bike & Adventure Camps with Escape Adventures – For kids aged 5-13, biking & games from Kilmer Park to the Bikeroom. Camps run 9am- 3pm. Free early drop-off available at 8:30am and late pick-up at 3:30pm. Extra hour of care needed 3:30-4:30pm $10. September 2-5th – $220 + gst * 5 spots left. September 8-12th – $275 + gst * 19 spots left. Click HERE for details.
North Van Rec – Offering a variety of full day camps, drop-in recreation sessions and part-day programs. Cost: $165 – $199 for 5 days and $40 – $51 for a single day, depending on activities included. Click HERE for details.
West Van & Gleneagles Community Centres and the Museum – Offering special day camps for kids during the strike. Programs will be cancelled once school goes back and refunds will be issued accordingly. Camps start at $60. Click HERE for details.
Grouse Mountain Adventure Camps – For kids aged 5-12. Themes include: First Nations; Wildlife Ranger Art and Drama, and Survival. Cost: $200 – 5-days / $160 – 4-days. Click HERE for details.
Vancouver Aquarium Day Programs – For kids in grades K – 12. Day programs include many of the same learning opportunities as its standard school programs. Children will connect with incredible aquatic animals and learn about marine life by interacting with the Aquarium’s staff biologists, veterinarians and aquarists. Cost: $44/day. 8:30 to 5:00 pm. YMCA Strike Camps – ongoing from September 2nd for kids entering kindergarten to grade 7. The YMCA is working to provide just under 1,200 spaces at 34 locations across the Lower Mainland and the Sunshine Coast. 8 am – 5 pm weekdays, $15/day for members & $30/day for non members.
