Packing a diaper bag for a normal day can sometimes be a challenge, especially for new mothers. It is so easy to forget things you need as you aren’t exactly sure what is really essential. Then add traveling into the mix and your diaper bag is a whole other ball game. There is so much more to think about when packing for a trip, so we took the time to think of all the tips you should consider for packing your diaper bag when traveling.
Always Have The Essentials
You can’t have a diaper bag without all the basic essentials and forgetting these will instantly mean you are going to end up having a rough day. Making sure to have enough diapers going into a day plus a couple extra is always a great idea, and with this you need to ensure your wipes are topped up and fresh. Your change pad should be ready to go and clean, along with a great lotion like JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE™ baby lotion and their great JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE™ baby washcloths – perfect for when you’re on the road and a bath isn’t possible. Always make sure your diaper cream is full and moist for your traveling adventures – you want to minimize your on-the-go costs as much as possible when traveling with your baby.
Traveling Pit Stop
There is nothing worse than being hungry on the go and that goes for both mom and baby. Make sure you have everything you need to feed yourself and your little one in a pinch at any time. There is no telling what can happen while traveling and having a few things to eat on hand is your best way to avoid an uncomfortable situation. Transportation delays alone are a great reason to keep some nibbles on hand for everyone inside your diaper bag.
Bedtime Soothers
Flying and any kind of transport when you are traveling can really take its toll on any adult let alone a baby. That can of course mean that bedtime routines end up being a bit of a disaster. Making sure you have your little one’s favorite bedtime items is a great first step to helping them feel as comfortable as possible. Having your baby’s favourite bedtime routine items is a great way to get them to settle; we always loved JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® baby bubble bath, JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® baby wash and of course to end with JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® baby lotion. It was the perfect way for anyone to ease themselves into a good night’s sleep.
Wardrobe Changes
Of course, you won’t have all your little one’s clothing in your diaper bag, but you do want to make sure you have at least a couple changes of clothing for on the go. Especially while traveling, when everyone’s digestion can end up slightly questionable from time to time. At least three onesies, two pairs of pants and two changes of shirts was a safe bet for both my kids.
Mom Needs
Don’t forget any pain and allergy medications, and any regular supplements to ensure you have what you need so you can be the best mom you can be. Simple things you might want to have on hand include hand sanitizer, nail clippers, a simple and small file just in case you or baby are in need while on your traveling adventures. Some extras could be Chapstick, hair ties and a small compact mirror.
Emergency Information & Supplies
When you are going to be traveling it might be a great idea to keep some copies of important information or contact numbers just in case. Your diaper bag is a great place to keep copies of this info in a compact way. Additionally, you might want to consider a simple first aid kit of some kind. If your family has special allergies or needs, always keep what you might need on hand in case of an emergency.
There are so many things to think about when it comes to travel plans when it involves your kids. Hopefully, with our tips, you will be packing your diaper bag for travel in no time!
