La Perle Community Playschool “The Stepping Stones of Early Learning”

*Disclosure: I did receive compensation in exchange for this blog post*

It is that time of year again…. Time to be thinking about where your child will attend preschool. It can be a difficult decision as your choice will help them prepare for when they begin their journey in the school system. There is also the choice between a preschool and playschool and there are many pros and cons to both options. Read on to find out all about La Perle Community Playschool and see if their philosophy would be right for you and your child.

About

The La Perle Community Playschool is located within the La Perle Elementary school at the southeast entrance. They provide a learn through play program for children ages three and four. They are a non-profit, parent operated cooperative. This means they rely on the relationship between the playschool and parents to provide an enriched playschool experience. Parents are required to help out in the classroom 1-3 days a month. This is a great opportunity for the parents to see what a day is like for their children at playschool.

They also have many themes that they will focus on throughout the year such as: friendship, space, dinosaurs, community helpers, and more!

Philosophy

As I said before, La Perle Community Playschool believes in learning through play. This means the classroom’s activities should be creative, stimulating, and should foster an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation.

Objectives:

• Develop speaking, listening, and learning skills
• Enhance small and large muscle development
• Provide an opportunity for preschoolers to socialize with their peers
• Contribute to the involvement of parents in the education of their children
• Operate as a parent-cooperative playschool

Fee’s

– 3-year-old program ( Tuesdays & Thursdays) $105/month

-4-year-old program ( Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) $135/month

As with many playschools, their existence depends heavily on the fundraising done by the parents of the children attending. Every year Le Perle hosts their Spring Tea, which is a fundraising event put on by the playschool, the students, and their parents. This event, and one other fundraising opportunity, help the playschool get the supplies they need and help keep the tuition down for parents. A subsidy is also available through the childcare subsidy program.

Open House & Registration Process

La Perle Playschool will be hosting their open house and pre-registration night on Tuesday, February 5th from 6pm-8pm! This is a great opportunity for you and your children to visit the playschool and see what they have to offer. You will have the opportunity to pre-register your child that night. All that is required is a 25$ registration fee, as well as one month’s tuition for the program in which you are registering (these fees are non-refundable).
