Gingersnap cookies might just be my favorite holiday treat so I wanted to share my Grandma’s recipe with you!
You will need:
- 3/4 cup Shortening
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup Molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 + 1/4 cups flour (I used 1 + 1/2 cups white flour + 3/4 cups whole wheat flour)
- 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon ground Ginger
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground Cloves
~ Start off by creaming the shortening; brown sugar; molasses & egg in mixer, until fluffy.
~ In a separate bowl whisk together dry ingredients and then combine with molasses mixture.
~ Once everything is combined you will make balls with the dough and then roll each ball in a bowl of granulated sugar. Once the balls have been lightly covered in sugar, place them on your baking sheet and gently push down (just to flatten the edges with smooshing completely).
~ Place cookies in a preheated oven (375 degrees) for 10 minutes or until the color has changed slightly.
~ Remove from oven and cool
~ Enjoy!
