Small Business Sunday with I LUV It Natural Deodorant

I LUV It Natural Deoderant

This is a very challenging time for so many people and so many small businesses. We love supporting local and wanted to do our part in showcasing some fantastic small businesses.

I LUV It Natural Deodorant

This week we are speaking with Kristin Sayn, owner of I LUV It Natural Deodorant. They are based in the Fraser Valley with products for purchase online as well as in a variety of retail locations as well as thru the Simply Beautiful Box. Their natural deodorant is clean, pure and made from all natural ingredients.  They offer gentle invigorating scents that subdue odors all day without the use of overpowering perfumes or dangerous chemicals. I Luv It Natural Deodorant has none of the harmful ingredients featured in high-profile brands. They scent their deodorants only with essential oils. No aluminum, parabens, pthalates, or anything else that may carry serious side effects.

They believe it’s important to provide a healthy product for families and give back at the same time. In fact, they just launched a give-back campaign for lifeforlucy, a local little girl who was diagnosed with SMA1 at 5 weeks old. I LUV It is donating all their profits from sales each Friday between now and August 28, to the lifeforlucy fundraiser.  I LUV It Natural Deodorant currently ships within Canada and the USA (FREE shipping with $60 order) and there is FREE local pick up in Abbotsford. You can find them on InstagramFacebook and on their website.

What made you choose this type of business?

I took over this business a year ago in March. I have been using this product since Marie (the previous owner), started I LUV IT and fell in LUV with the product, and Marie. When I heard she was going to sell the business, I  knew I had to be the next owner.  I love the product and I was worried if someone else took it over they would change everything about I LUV IT, and I knew it couldn’t change! I believe the world needs to know how unhealthy some products can be and how healthy our deodorant is. From the ingredients to the jar it comes in, and how its applied.

What is your favourite small business (aside from your own)?

My favorite small business aside from my own, would have to be Tender Heart Co. based out of Maple Ridge, they make gorgeous tie dye apparel and accessories and are passionate about giving back, just like we are.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

My advice for someone starting out: To be organized… LOL …. I am soooo not and I struggle with this.  It would make life easier if I was!

If applicable, has your business been negatively affected by COVID19? If so how have you coped?

Our business was not affected by COVID, if anything we grew.  It goes to show how society is moving towards supporting local,  smaller shops, home made services and keeping sales and money within Canada and their own community. For us this is fantastic, a silver lining if you may!

What is your funniest/weirdest/most memorable experience with a customer or client?

When I had a customer come up at a market and ask about how natural the product was  etc etc. When i told her that the ingredients were so natural you could eat it she actually stuck her finger in the product and then licked her finger….. its true the product is natural and you can eat it, it just takes awful….but she laughed and I laughed and she ended up buying a jar!
