*I received compensation for this Spring cleaning post, but as always all my opinions are my own*
Spring has sprung…well soon I hope.
Usually, this time of year brings on the urge to scrub down all the dirt and grime that was accumulated over the winter. For me, this is the time I go through all of my children’s toys, clothes, books, etc to sell or donate. Between Christmas and my daughters birthday also being in the springtime, it is the perfect time for us to unload some items we no longer use and appreciate, In the past, I have typically used either Kijiji or the buy and sell groups on Facebook. However, recently a new app called Reshopper has caught my attention and for good reason!.This is the app that will be your ultimate helper when it comes to your Spring cleaning.
About Reshopper
Founded in 2012, Reshopper is a free app created by parents for parents. Its purpose is to help parents safely sell their children’s previously loved items within your own community. Most of the buy and sell apps will offer a wide array of categories to choose from, however, Reshopper focused exclusively on children’s items only. This helps you save valuable time trying to wade through all the different items you would usually find on a buy and sell app. The creators of Reshopper are based out of Denmark, and it was an absolute hit with more than 50% of Danish households with children under the age of 6 using this incredible app. in fact, they were awarded ” Denmarks Best Children’s App” in 2015,2016, and 2017 and was recently selected by Apple as Editors Choice in the app store.
Setting Up The App
Reshopper is available on both Apple and Andriod and downloading and setting up the app were very quick and easy. The first thing you will need to do is to create your ” shop”. This would include setting your profile picture, address ( you can hide your exact address from other shoppers) and writing your shops description if you wish. You should be ready to buy and sell items within mere minutes! When listing your items you will be prompted to fill in some vital information that helps prospective buyers find your items. Starting with choosing a category, brand, price, and adding a description of your item as well. Helping take some of the guesswork out for your buyer by giving as many details as possible – down to what condition your item is in.
Items In My Shop
I started out by listing my son’s car seat, he had grown out of it but it was in fantastic shape and had many years left before expiry. Unfortunately, due to the ” 2012 Consumer Protection Act” in Canada, my posting was taken down. This is because there are certain guidelines that must be met, like, the car seat cannot have been in an accident. Because they are unable to confirm that this is the case with every item posted they simply do not allow the item to remain in your shop. This is something to keep in mind if you have a used car seat that you would like to sell. I did appreciate that Reshopper did reach out to me and inform me as to why my item has disappeared.
The next two items that I listed were a Vtech sports toy my children no longer played with and a bassinet that my husband never cared for. Again, this was quick and simple to get up onto my shop and I quickly had people viewing my items. I love that it shows you how many views you have received on each item and that you are able to private message with potential buyers. You can also choose to follow a shop, which is great if you have found a buyer that has children maybe slightly older than yours and consistently posts great items for sale. Helping you make a little off your Spring cleaning this year, and there is nothing much better than that – Spring cleaning is hard enough without it helping out your bank account.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking to unload some of your kid’s items ( which come on, aren’t we all?!) then this is the app for you! It is incredibly user-friendly, offers a way to sell your items within your community, cuts down on time looking through a million items you don’t want, and it’s FREE! This is the perfect time of year to go through your basement and attics and get rid of unwanted items, so I encourage you to download the Reshopper app here and give it a try.
Happy Shopping and Happy Spring Cleaning!
