Welcome Summer!!! Officially, the Summer Solstice begins on Saturday, June 21 @ 6:51 a.m. EST. If you notice, it will be the longest day of the year so make sure you make the most of the great outdoors and enjoy this beautiful day!
World Cup fever has taken over Toronto! Especially at our home and with a number of our Modern Mama’s! Even if your country didn’t make it, the celebrations, games and stories coming from Brazil are worth a watch. I didn’t realize just how beautiful the landscape was there, and the people and their traditions are definitely something to see. So grab your baby and turn on the tube at home or head out to anywhere in the city, there’s no doubt you’ll see some matches being played everywhere. Most games start at 12:00pm, 3:00pm and 6:00pm daily.
World Pride Toronto June 20-29, 2014
Pride holds a special place in my heart as my son’s Godfather, and my best friend is Gay. WorldPride 2014 Toronto (WP14TO), presented by Pride Toronto, is shaping up to be one of the biggest international events of our times. These ten days of queer celebration will turn streets into parades, parks into parties and strangers into friends. Come out and meet the people from around the world expected to gather downtown and in neighbourhoods right across the city.
Na-Me-Res Traditional Pow Wow June 21, 2014
Celebrate Canada’s National Aboriginal Day with the Tribes. One of my fondest memories, and most spectacular pictures, were taken at a Pow Wow many years ago. If you have never attended such as event, it’s a must see of music, dancing, beautiful crafts, and delicious food. I invite you to bring your family and introduce them to the native arts. Surely your babes will have a FUN time dancing with their own feathers 🙂
