How to Have an Epic Summer on a Budget

Last summer my husband and I decided that traveling a long distance with our three children just isn’t for us, so our family vacations consisted of camping, visiting the mountains and exploring in Canmore, Banff, and Lake Louise and spending some time in Calgary (my kids love staying in Hotels). Not surprisingly our plans for this summer are pretty similar and since we’ve had {mostly} great weather so far my kids have been asking to go camping and visit the mountains on a weekly basis. As a family that loves spending time outdoors I am especially excited for the Epic Made Easy Passes because they will not only provide my children with new experiences and memories, they will also save us some money in the process. Win Win!

The Epic Summer Pass gives you unlimited access to the Banff Gondola, Banff Lake Cruise, Glacier Skywalk, Glacier Adventure and Maligne Lake Cruise, so you can have an epic summer on any budget! Until May 31, 2016, adult passes can be purchased for $130 and children’s passes for $70.  Once you have visited three attractions the pass has paid for itself AND you can use it an unlimited amount of times over the summer so you can get even more value from the passes.

Brewster Travel Canada released this statement and I think it’s pretty well said:

“We understand the difficulties that Alberta’s economic circumstances are posing to families who are looking for ways to enjoy their summer vacation on a budget,” said Dave McKenna, President of Brewster Travel Canada. “We want to give Albertans the best summer possible by reminding them about the world-class adventures that are right in their backyards. The Epic Summer Pass is cost-effective and high value, offering pass-holders the unique opportunity to reconnect with our province, our mountains and each other.”

By purchasing your Epic Summer Pass now you can save money all Summer long, keeping in mind the passes are only available until May 31st, 2016. So head on over to to purchase your passes so that your family can have an Epic Summer right here in Alberta!

We love the Rockies and everything about them, one of the many reasons we moved to alberta. The ice fields and gondola are amongst the favorites in our family, the more snow the better 🙂

I travel between Edmonton and Prince George roughly once a year, and have recently been dumbstruck how fortunate I am to do that trip so frequently. I’m sure there are folks from around the world who save up and scrimp for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Canada’s Rockies. We are indeed spoiled by the beauty and proximity.

We love taking our boys to Banff. We are a ski family and normally go in the winter, but it would be fantastic to share a summer exploration in the Rockies!
