The Carousel Theatre for Young People is presenting Elephant and Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” This is a delightful new musical about two bestest friends and their many adventures; this charming story based on the best-selling book series by Mo Willems will light up the stage for the month of March with its silliness and exuberance. Join best friends, Gerald and Piggie, on a day where anything is possible! Filled with beloved characters and lively songs, it’s the perfect adventure for young audiences! The show is recommended for ages 3 to 8. The running time is approximately 60 minutes. This musical has lots of movement, dancing and singing. There is also some audience participation.

The theatre is located at 1411 Cartwright Street on Granville Island. Winner will be announced March 15th.
Carousel Theatre for Young People (CTYP) has been based on Granville Island since 1981. CTYP’s dedication to artistic excellence has resulted in critical acclaim and twelve Jessie Awards and 60 nominations in the Theatre for Young Audiences category in the past six seasons. Most recently, CTYP’s Busytown received the Jessie Award for Outstanding Production, TYA in 2014. Other recent productions of note include Bird Brain, A Year with Frog and Toad, Seussical and The Odyssey, all of which received multiple Jessie Awards, including the award for Outstanding Production, TYA. Each season approximately 40,000 young people and their families benefit from CTYP’s programming. At Carousel Theatre for Young People they believe that the arts, and specifically theatre, plays a vital role in a young person’s development. It takes a village to raise a child. Have not seen any production shows in this theatre before but would love to see this one.
My husband took my daughter to the Charlie Brown Christmas play at this theatre for her first ever play experience. She’s really into Mo Willems these days and she loves to act out Elephant and Piggie for fun at home. I’m sure she’d love to see this play!
We’ve never seen a play at this theatre but I know my kids would love it!
