This is a very challenging time for so many people and so many small businesses. We love supporting local and wanted to do our part in showcasing some fantastic small businesses.
This week we are speaking with Karen, Founder of Creating Explorations. They are based out of White Rock, BC and ship Canada-wide.
Creating Explorations creates natural, eco-friendly, non-toxic explore dough for children (and adults too!). Explore dough is unique because it is infused with natural essential oils, making playtime a calming and happy experience. Essential oils are known to educe calm and invoke creativity and happiness. The dough also makes your hands feel and smell amazing! Explore dough is available in 8oz and 4 oz and 2 oz containers. The 2oz containers make a great gift or party favor item. In addition you can buy kits that include the dough and a variety of items that kids can further use to create with the explore dough. The possibilities are endless.
You can find Creating Explorations on Instagram and Facebook . To order, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Free pick up is available out of White Rock and Surrey (Fraser Heights), otherwise delivery and shipping is available for an additional fee.
What made you choose this type of business?
What is your favourite small business (aside from your own)?
My favorite business aside from my own is Tiny Trends Design Co. they create learning towers for ages 12-24 months.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
My piece of advice would be to celebrate small wins, remain positive and set small goals.
If applicable, has your business been negatively affected by COVID19? If so how have you coped?
Our business emerged during COVID-19. We, like many families out there followed all health regulations and kept to home during lock-down and BOOM Explore Dough was created. 🙂
What are your long term business goals?
What are you most looking forward to with the launch of your new business?
To get kids exploring with our Explore Dough and having them engage in authentic imaginative and open-ended play.
What is your funniest/weirdest/most memorable experience with a customer or client?
Thank you to Karen for participating in this week’s Small Business Sunday.
Karen was kind enough to drop off a sample of Explore Dough for my kids to try, I have to say my kids played really well together with it and thoroughly enjoyed the scents. They really took the scents in and their hands were so soft afterward. They really loved exploring the scents and colors and mixing them together. I believe that the dough appealed to their sense of smell and touch in a way that put them in a calmer more creative mood. Even I tried it out and really enjoyed the sensory experience. I can see how Explore Dough would appeal to kids and adults alike.
