Over the last few weeks my family and I have been testing out the BOB 2016 Revolution Flex and take my word for it, this is one awesome stroller (no, I have not been paid to say that). Let me start by telling you a little more about my family; my oldest son is almost five, my middle son is three and a half and my daughter is two. Over the past five years we have owned AT LEAST ten strollers, a few single-seaters, a few double strollers, a jogging stroller and a small/portable stroller and more often than not we have switched strollers because my husband and/or I have been dissatisfied with something about one of those strollers.
After reading about the features of the BOB 2016 Revolution Flex I was excited to put it to the test and see if it was up to our (my husband and I) standards. So I’ll start by telling you about the features and functions that I was most excited about.
The Five Point Harness, my youngest is small and flexible so she can easily get out of any seat belt that is around the waist only. The five point harness gave me peace of mind that she wasn’t going to fall out when I was walking/jogging/running.
The 9-way Adjustable Handle Bar, not only is this a padded handle bar that is super comfortable to hold but it also has the ability to adjust into nine different positions. This was a huge plus for our family since I am a lot shorter than my husband and we could alternate between pushing this stroller without either of us feeling uncomfortable. Plus it’s super easy to adjust!
The Wrist Strap & Buckle, the wrist strap is designed to be used when jogging/running with your stroller so if you lose your grip your
stroller child won’t roll away. As a not-so-confidant runner I thought this was pretty neat; but when my three year old asked if he could hold “the handle” it got even better. I typically take the kids for a walk everyday because we live close to a great park but to get there we cross a busy intersection; so one of my boys will hold the “handle” (wrist strap) while the other holds my hand.
The Ultra Padded Seat, not only is this seat super comfortable but it also has built in ventilation so your little one will stay comfortable on the hot days too. As you can see, my two year old actually enjoys sitting in this stroller and does not scream for me to let her out (as she does with our double stroller). I should also mention that my three year old loves sitting in the Revolution Flex as well and because the weight capacity is 34 kg, I don’t have to worry about him straining the frame at all.
The Suspension, The BOB 2016 Revolution Flex is equipped with a state-of-the-art adjustable suspension system that offers three inches of travel and two stages of weight support for an ultra smooth ride. As the parent pushing the stroller my husband and I were both so impressed with the suspension; when we were travelling on rough terrain, smooth terrain and jogging this stroller functioned perfectly. Added bonus, my daughter was happy and at times laughing because she was enjoying our test driving so much (we purposely tested on level and not level ground, as well as gravel and pavement).
The Front Wheel, I was pretty impressed with the front wheel because it can swivel 360 degrees or can be locked in the forward position. The swivel wheel is amazing because it makes it incredibly easy to push and maneuver around, both indoors and outdoors. The wheel should be locked when you are running with this stroller, it keeps you on track and adds to the smooth ride. I also thought it was totally neat that you can adjust the front wheel alignment with a turn of a knob.
The Basket and Storage Pockets, as most parents know the storage space on a stroller can be equally important as the functionality. Even though my kids are no longer babies we still travel with a lot of “stuff” and the integrated pockets and the underneath storage were a huge plus in my books.
It is Easy to Fold, like super easy to fold up! I’ve had strollers in the past that I have struggled to fold and struggled to lift, which of course were two awful features! But the Revolution Flex is both easy to fold up and relatively light weight and as an added bonus the wheels can easily be disconnected to save space in the back of your vehicle.
Suitable for All Ages, even though my little ones are out of the infant seat stage, I am still loving that this stroller can be used with an infant car seat or on it’s own. You can purchase a BOB B-Safe car seat (as shown above) for the super cute matching look or you can use any other infant car seat with the infant car seat adapter.
Other Features worth mentioning:
- The extra large sunshade has a UPF 50+ rating to keep your little one safe from the sun
- Foot activated parking brake ensures your stroller won’t roll away from you
- Air filled, high impact polymer wheels ensure your little one has a smooth ride
- The 2016 BOB Revolution Flex is available in four great colours; Black, Lagoon, Meadow, and Canyon
Whether you are looking for a stroller that is great for exploring your neighbourhood or taking off road I would totally recommend the BOB 2016 Revolution Flex, as it definitely lives up to its reputation of the #1 Jogging Stroller Brand.
