We are excited to introduce you to Pina Crispo. Pina is a wife and mom of three children. She is the Founder and Owner of ChicMamma.ca. She is also the host of The Parenting Show on Global News Radio 640 Toronto (Sundays at 7pm EST) and a teacher at Humber College. She has been a professional voiceover actor for almost twenty years. She lives in Ontario, Canada with her family.

Are you an Urban or Suburban Mama, where do you live?

I live about 45 min (without traffic) north of downtown Toronto in the burbs and although I live in the burbs I’m constantly downtown living the Toronto life so I would say Urban Mamma all the way!

Tell us about your children?

I have 3 kids…Samantha who is 8, Liliana who is 6 and Marcus who is 4. I gotta say my kids are pretty kick-ass! They are awesome and always up for an adventure. They love to travel, they love music and never turn down the opportunity to check out a concert…rock concerts of course…just like their Mamma!

Tell us about your typical weekday?

I guess it all depends on what day you’re asking about. After getting the kids off to school my days can go a few different ways…kickboxing, heading to the radio station to work on “The Parenting Show” which is the radio show I host and produce (Sundays at 7pm on Global News Radio 640 Toronto) alongside my co-host Jennifer Valentyne, going to Humber College where I teach in the Radio Broadcasting program, maybe it’s a voice audition or gig (yes I’m also a professional voice actor and have been for the past 17 years) or it’s working on all things Chic Mamma…phone calls, emails, creating content, etc. In between, of course, I’m also doing school pick up, driving the kids to their extracurricular activities and you know all the other mom stuff haha.

Do you have help?

Lucky for me I have my mom is close by so if I need an extra hand she’s always around to help and I am forever grateful for it and her. My husband is also very helpful and hands-on when it comes to the kids.

Who cooks dinner?

That’s me! Nothing super fancy…simple and quick due to my schedule is always the way to go. Tonight, for example, was pasta with a fresh homemade tomato sauce I made after school pick up.

How often do you buy something just for you?

At least once a month but it wasn’t always like this, especially not when I was a new mom…gotta love the mom guilt. I’ve since come to the realization that I’m more than just a mom (a hashtag I always use…#morethanjustamom) and that I matter and my happiness matters. If I’m in a good place mentally, emotionally and physically then and only then can I be a good mom to my kids and lead by example. This means taking time for myself and doing things for myself like maybe buying myself something.

Do you exercise regularly and if so, what and how do you fit it in?

I do, kickboxing at 9Round Vaughan is my thing and I try to go 3 times per week. Sometimes I hit my goal of 3 times and sometimes I fall short. I love it because it’s a great stress reliever for me, allows me to have “MY TIME”, and I’m a strong believer in a healthy body means a healthy mind.

What clothing lines or stores do you like to buy for your children?

Anything from H&M to Gap, Old Navy or the girls are into and loving Justice right now while Marcus could careless haha.

I’m totally obsessed with…

Music! Asides from my family and radio, music is my life! Listening to music and hitting up concerts as much as I can is my vibe. Oh and I’m also a major Potter Head…love all things Harry Potter!

Three things in my purse right now are…

  1. Lip Balm… I always have lip balm on me
  2. Essential Oil Rollers (energy blend and one for headaches)
  3. Power Bank for my cell (a dead phone in my world is never good.)

My favourite drugstore buy is…

New lip balm for sure!

My guilty pleasure is…

Cranking some 90’s Euro and singing along at the top of my lungs…preferably in the car haha.

Thank you to Pina for taking the time out of her day to let me know “How She Does It.”
